It appears that the efforts of OSINT researchers to identify and collect the personal data of prosecutors and judges did not go to waste. The Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine (OPGU) has opened two criminal cases against the Russian judges and prosecutors involved in sentencing Nadiya Savchenko. As a reminder, on March 13, 2016, InformNapalm volunteers presented the results of an investigation that identified the participants of the ‘Kangaroo Court’ against Nadiya Savchenko, based on the court video and photos.

According to Ukrayinska Pravda, in the March 23 briefing, the Prosecutor of OPGU Vladyslav Kutsenko announced:

“Yesterday, two criminal charges were entered in the Unified Register of Prejudicial Inquiries. The first one is based on paragraph 2 of article 375 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. It concerns the judges of Donetsk City Court of Russia and is related to the knowingly wrongful judgment against Savchenko.”

The three judges of Donetsk City Court of Russia in question are Leonid Stepanenko, Ali Khaibulaev, and Evgeniya Chernish.

“The second criminal charge entered by our colleagues into URPI yesterday, concerns the prosecutors of the Russian Federation… There we are dealing with paragraph 2 of article 372 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which is illegal criminal prosecution of a person,” Kutsenko stated.

This case concerns the prosecutors of the Office of the Prosecutor General of Russia, Pavel Filipchuk, Dmitry Yunoshev, and Vladislav Kuznetsov.

Kutsenko also said that OPGU was preparing international mandates for notifications of suspicion against the judges and prosecutors of the Russian Federation, who sentenced Savchenko to 22 years in prison.

“Today we prepared the notifications of suspicion. We are now preparing the international mandates,” Kutsenko said. “After the rejection [of the international mandates – ed.] we will appeal to the Interpol,” the prosecutor added.

Kutsenko explained that this was necessary for the trial in absentia procedure.
