Regardless of the agreements between the Command of the Navy of Ukraine and the Black Sea Fleet Command (Russia) provocative actions against Ukrainian military forces, located in the Crimea, are still carried on.
Psychological blackmail, threats and incitement to illegal actions become stronger and harder.
On March, 10 special forces of the Russian Army attacked the Ukrainian military unit in Bakhchisaray. The attackers used automatic weapons against the unarmed Ukrainian servicemen.
On March, 12 under the threat of the use of weapons the Russians tried to force the Ukrainian soldiers to join the non-existent “Crimean Navy”.
The property of the Ukrainian military units is robbed by members of the illegal armed groups, supported by the Russian Command and units.
Such actions are considered me as unacceptable.
I declare, that the Navy of Ukraine still adheres to all the agreements between Ukraine and Russia.
The Ukrainian Navy Command controls the situation in every Ukrainian unit in the Crimea. We try to avoid provocation and escalation of the armed conflict.
Life and health of people, of civilians and military personnel, of citizens of Russia and Ukraine, peace in the Crimea are the highest importance for us now.
We strongly urge the Russian colleagues, constabulary, governments of both countries and people to keep calm, stay restrained and wise in order to prevent the victims.
Dialogue and negotiations at different levels is the only adequate and right solution in this situation.
Commander of the Navy of Ukraine
Rear Admiral S.Hayduk
