In 2014, a Buk surface-to-air missile system (SAM) belonging to the 53-rd Brigade of the Russian Armed Forces brought down flight MH17, killing 298 civilians, including 80 children and 3 infants. In 2018, the commander of the brigade colonel Muchkaev signs merit certificates for the brigade’s servicemen’s children who made drawings about the Russian Army: see the photo InformNapalm volunteers have found.
On May 24, the Joint Investigation Team (JIT) provided evidence that MH17 passenger flight was brought down with a Buk SAM belonging to the 53rd Anti-Aircraft Missile Brigade of the Russian Armed Forces.
The JIT has also appealed for information about the Buk crew members and commanders who ordered the transfer and deployment of the Buk to the occupied part of Ukraine.
In view of the above, it would make perfect sense to locate and question the commander of the 53rd brigade (military unit 32406, Kursk), as military personnel never engage in any activity (let alone combat missions) or use military equipment without their commander’s knowledge and express order.
It was as far back as January 2016 that InformNapalm volunteers identified and disclosed information about the commander of the 53rd Anti-Aircraft Missile Brigade colonel Sergey Borisovich Muchkaev. He was appointed Brigade Commander in 2013 and continues to serve in this position to this day.
Recently, colonel Muchkaev even signed merit certificates for the brigade’s servicemen’s children who took part in the “Army Through Children’s Eyes” drawing competition. We wonder how these children actually see the Russian Army and whether they know that their parents participated, directly or indirectly, in the terrorist attack that killed dozens of children.
Let us remind you that on July 17, 2014, the Russian military brought down flight MH17, killing 298 civilians, among them 80 children and 3 babies.
We found the photo of a certificate of merit signed by colonel Muchkaev on the VK page of the 53-rd Brigade of the Russian Armed Forces. The child’s first and last name are redacted.
It would have made sense to summon colonel Muchkaev for questioning: being one of the key persons implicated in the MH17 shootdown, he holds the keys to the evidence that could help the investigators establish all facts and identify all those involved in the terrorist attack.
Let us remind you that InformNapalm volunteers have been urging the world community to step up economic and diplomatic pressure on the Russian Federation and boycott the FIFA World Cup in Russia: holding the World Championship finals in Moscow on July 15 and commemorating the victims of the terrorist attack perpetrated by the Russian Army two days later, on July 17, would be highly cynical.
