It is not the first time when Russian hybrid army shells civilian areas of DPR-held territories that are currently under control of Russian occupation forces. Friendly fire is frequently used by Russian media to create the image of &#8220;evil Ukrainian military who attack civilians&#8221; and, thus, shift public opinion towards blaming Ukrainian Army for atrocities in Donbas.<\/p>\n<p>On February 1, 2017 local residents reported the hit of a 122-mm high-explosive fragmentation projectile into a corner of an apartment building located at <a href=\"https:\/\/yandex.ru\/maps\/142\/donetsk\/?ll=37.781659%2C48.062886&amp;z=18&amp;l=sat%2Cpht\">17 Lystoprokatnykiv Street<\/a> of Donetsk (Ukraine), occupied by Russian forces since 2014.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/informnapalm.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/Selection_066.png\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/informnapalm.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/Selection_067.png\" \/>Using these photos and map application OSINT analysts of InformNapalm identified the hit spot on the map and drew the trajectory of the projectile. Please, pay special attention to two high-rise buildings circled with blue on the map. The projectile did not hit any of these buildings, which means that its trajectory fell precisely between them. This fact helped to define the direction of shell arrival more accurately &#8211; it is indicated by the red arrow on the map (click the image to enlarge)<em>:<\/em><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/informnapalm.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/Selection_070.png\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Now, if we mark a demarcation line between Ukrainian and Russian forces (<a href=\"http:\/\/liveuamap.com\/\">liveuamap<\/a>) and draw 15.4 km-long line (the maximum firing range of D-30 howitzer) in the direction of the shooting the resulting image will show that the firing position is located on territory that is currently under control of the Russian troops.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/informnapalm.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/Selection_069.png\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Only a week ago, on January 31, 2017, Russian forces shelled the neighboring houses at <a href=\"https:\/\/yandex.ru\/maps\/142\/donetsk\/?ll=37.786129%2C48.061979&amp;z=18&amp;l=sat%2Cskl\">the address<\/a> 3A Lystoprokatnykiv and 10 Lystoprokatnykiv. Similarly, 122-mm high-explosive fragmentation shells were used. The fire was coming from the north-eastern direction.
