Russian occupation authorities sought to suppress any <span lang=\"en-US\">signs of dissent among the local residents and confirm Kremlin\u2019s <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">bogus <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">stories about <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">black-hearted Ukrainians and Crimean Tatars planning horrific terror attacks. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><span lang=\"en-US\"><span style=\"font-size: medium\">Civic activists are being arrested in droves. <\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium\"><span lang=\"en-US\">Most of them are detained<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"> in Crimea, but some are arrested in Russia. <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">Encouraged by impunity, Russian regime also kidnaps Ukrainians. For instance, in August 2017 a Ukrainian teenager <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">Pavlo Hryb was abducted by Russian FSB from Belarus. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><span lang=\"en-US\"><span style=\"font-size: medium\">The <\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium\"><span lang=\"en-US\">s<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">tories <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">of Ukrainian political prisoners <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">are similar. They get arrested <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">on false testimonies or their own \u201cconfessions\u201d obtained under torture. <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">Evidence is planted, witnesses are fake, <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">trials are falsified, but the sentences are real. Ukrainian filmmaker Oleg Sentsov was sentenced to 20 years in a colony. Ukrainian journalist Roman Sushchenko was sentenced to 12 years in a high-security penitentiary. <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">Ihor Movenko was sentenced to 2 years in prison for a comment in VK social network.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><span lang=\"en-US\"><span style=\"font-size: medium\">While the precise number of Ukrainian political prisoners remains unknown, human rights groups mention in their reports at least 74 Ukrainian citizens held by Russia. Human rights defenders<\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium\"><span lang=\"en-US\"> also report abductions, disappearances and a number of deaths while in detention. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><span lang=\"en-US\"><span style=\"font-size: medium\">Political prisoners are systematically humiliated by prison guards and they get poor medical treatment. <\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium\"><span lang=\"en-US\">Ukrainian consuls and Ukrainian Ombudsman have not been able to get access to Ukrainian prisoners for months. <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">All these conditions pu<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">sh jailed Ukrainians<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"> to desperate measures in a hope to attract attention of <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">the<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"> world community to their fate. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: medium\"><span lang=\"en-US\">97 days ago Volodymyr Balukh went on a <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">hu<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">nger strike<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">. According to the latest reports he has lost 30 kg and his life is in jeopardy.<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span lang=\"en-US\"><span style=\"font-size: medium\">41 days ago Oleg Sentsov started his termless hunger strike demanding release of Ukrainian political prisoners. His lawyer says that by now Sentsov has lost 15 kg and his health is seriously deteriorating.<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span lang=\"en-US\"><span style=\"font-size: medium\">30 days ago Oleksandr Shumkov joined hunger strike as well.<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p align=\"left\"><span style=\"font-size: medium\">These brave Ukrainians can die for their beliefs. The world has to act before it is too late. Make the Kremlin stop torturing them and demand their release! <\/span><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"978\" height=\"550\" Russian occupation authorities sought to suppress any <span lang=\"en-US\">signs of dissent among the local residents and confirm Kremlin\u2019s <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">bogus <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">stories about <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">black-hearted Ukrainians and Crimean Tatars planning horrific terror attacks. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\r\n<p align=\"left\"><span lang=\"en-US\"><span style=\"font-size: medium\">Civic activists are being arrested in droves. <\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium\"><span lang=\"en-US\">Most of them are detained<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"> in Crimea, but some are arrested in Russia. <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">Encouraged by impunity, Russian regime also kidnaps Ukrainians. For instance, in August 2017 a Ukrainian teenager <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">Pavlo Hryb was abducted by Russian FSB from Belarus. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\r\n<p align=\"left\"><span lang=\"en-US\"><span style=\"font-size: medium\">The <\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium\"><span lang=\"en-US\">s<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">tories <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">of Ukrainian political prisoners <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">are similar. They get arrested <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">on false testimonies or their own \u201cconfessions\u201d obtained under torture. <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">Evidence is planted, witnesses are fake, <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">trials are falsified, but the sentences are real. Ukrainian filmmaker Oleg Sentsov was sentenced to 20 years in a colony. Ukrainian journalist Roman Sushchenko was sentenced to 12 years in a high-security penitentiary. <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">Ihor Movenko was sentenced to 2 years in prison for a comment in VK social network.\r\n<\/span><\/span><\/p>\r\n<p align=\"left\"><span lang=\"en-US\"><span style=\"font-size: medium\">While the precise number of Ukrainian political prisoners remains unknown, human rights groups mention in their reports at least 74 Ukrainian citizens held by Russia. Human rights defenders<\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium\"><span lang=\"en-US\"> also report abductions, disappearances and a number of deaths while in detention. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\r\n<p align=\"left\"><span lang=\"en-US\"><span style=\"font-size: medium\">Political prisoners are systematically humiliated by prison guards and they get poor medical treatment. <\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium\"><span lang=\"en-US\">Ukrainian consuls and Ukrainian Ombudsman have not been able to get access to Ukrainian prisoners for months. <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">All these conditions pu<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">sh jailed Ukrainians<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"> to desperate measures in a hope to attract attention of <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">the<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"> world community to their fate. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n<ul>\r\n \t<li><span style=\"font-size: medium\"><span lang=\"en-US\">97 days ago Volodymyr Balukh went on a <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">hu<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">nger strike<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">. According to the latest reports he has lost 30 kg and his life is in jeopardy.<\/span><\/span><\/li>\r\n \t<li><span lang=\"en-US\"><span style=\"font-size: medium\">41 days ago Oleg Sentsov started his termless hunger strike demanding release of Ukrainian political prisoners. His lawyer says that by now Sentsov has lost 15 kg and his health is seriously deteriorating.<\/span><\/span><\/li>\r\n \t<li><span lang=\"en-US\"><span style=\"font-size: medium\">30 days ago Oleksandr Shumkov joined hunger strike as well.<\/span><\/span><\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<p align=\"left\"><span style=\"font-size: medium\">These brave Ukrainians can die for their beliefs. The world has to act before it is too late.
