These Russian units make up the invasion forces by providing battalion or company tactical groups (BTG or CTG).<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/informnapalm.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/136-akacia-08-09.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-1773 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/informnapalm.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/136-akacia-08-09.jpg\" alt=\"136 akacia 08 09\" width=\"1280\" height=\"960\" \/><\/a><br \/>\n<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The work on these units is work in progress and we periodically update the list of military units as more information is acquired and new units are brought in. However we are now able to provide information not only on \u201cwhich units are fighting?\u201d but also on \u201cwith what armaments are they fighting?\u201d. We have collected substantial evidence on this matter. In this article we will present information on the artillery units.<\/p>\n<p>Back in July we <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/irakli.komaxidze\/posts\/626503984129518\">wrote<\/a> that artillery elements located near the Ukrainian border in the Rostov region of the Russian Federation shelled Ukrainian territory from time to time. Since that time we have acquired new evidence.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/informnapalm.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/291-kamaz-22.09.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-1774 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/informnapalm.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/291-kamaz-22.09.jpg\" alt=\"291 kamaz 22.09\" width=\"1231\" height=\"792\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>We identified the elements located in the immediate vicinity of the Ukrainian border that belong to the following military units (all those units are from the Southern Military District):<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Elements of the 291st Artillery Brigade from Troitskaya (Republic of Ingushetia). Equipped with <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/152_mm_howitzer_2A65\">2A65 \u201cMsta-B\u201d<\/a> towed 152 mm howitzers, 220 mm self-propelled multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS) <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/BM-27_Uragan\">BM-27 \u201cUragan\u201d<\/a>, and truck-mounted 122 mm multiple rocket launchers (MRL) <a href=\"http:\/\/www.military-today.com\/artillery\/grad.htm\">BM-21 \u201cGrad\u201d<\/a>. One of the elements of this artillery brigade, which was transferred to Crimea in the early spring, was used to form the <a title=\"Russian Occupants Started to Form New Military Units in Crimea: 8th Separate Artillery Regiment\" href=\"https:\/\/informnapalm.org\/en\/russian-occupants-started-form-new-military-units-crimea-8th-separate-artillery-regiment\/\">8th Separate Artillery Regiment<\/a> (based in Simferopol and subordinated to the ground units of the Black Sea Fleet of the Russian Federation);<\/li>\n<li>Elements of the 19th Motorized Brigade transferred from Sputnik village (near Vladikavkaz, South Ossetia). They are equipped with <a href=\"http:\/\/www.military-today.com\/artillery\/2s19_msta_s.htm\">2S19 \u201cMsta-S\u201d<\/a> self-propelled 152 mm howitzers and 122 mm MLRS <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/9A52-4_Tornado#Variants\">9A53-G \u201cTornado\u201d<\/a> (upgraded variant of BM-21 &#8220;Grad&#8221;);<\/li>\n<li>Elements of the 18th Guards Independent Motor-Rifle Brigade from Kalinovskaya (Chechnya). They are equipped with <a href=\"http:\/\/www.military-today.com\/artillery\/2s3_akatsiya.htm\">2S3 \u201cAkatsiya\u201d<\/a> 152.4 mm self-propelled artillery and 122 mm MLRS 9A53-G \u201cTornado\u201d;<\/li>\n<li>Elements of the 136th Motorized Brigade transferred from Buynaksk (Dagestan). Equipped with 2S3 \u201cAkatsiya\u201d;<\/li>\n<li>Elements of 943rd Multiple Rocket Launcher Regiment from Krasnooktyabrskiy (Adyhea). Equipped with 220 mm MLRS BM-27 \u201cUragan\u201d;<\/li>\n<li>Elements of the 17th Guards Independent Motor-Rifle Brigade from Shali (Chechnya) or 8th Guards Independent (Mountain) Motor-Rifle Brigade from Borzoy (Chechnya). Equipped with <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/2S1_Gvozdika\">2S1 \u201cGvozdika\u201d<\/a> 122 mm self-propelled howitzers;<\/li>\n<li>Elements of the 1st Guards Missile Brigade transferred from Krasnodar. These Russian units make up the invasion forces by providing battalion or company tactical groups (BTG or CTG).\r\n\r\n<a href=\"https:\/\/informnapalm.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/136-akacia-08-09.jpg\"><img class=\"alignnone wp-image-1773 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/informnapalm.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/136-akacia-08-09.jpg\" alt=\"136 akacia 08 09\" width=\"1280\" height=\"960\" \/><\/a>\r\n<!--more-->\r\n\r\nThe work on these units is work in progress and we periodically update the list of military units as more information is acquired and new units are brought in. However we are now able to provide information not only on \u201cwhich units are fighting?\u201d but also on \u201cwith what armaments are they fighting?\u201d. We have collected substantial evidence on this matter. In this article we will present information on the artillery units.\r\n\r\nBack in July we <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/irakli.komaxidze\/posts\/626503984129518\">wrote<\/a> that artillery elements located near the Ukrainian border in the Rostov region of the Russian Federation shelled Ukrainian territory from time to time. Since that time we have acquired new evidence.\r\n\r\n<a href=\"https:\/\/informnapalm.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/291-kamaz-22.09.jpg\"><img class=\"alignnone wp-image-1774 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/informnapalm.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/291-kamaz-22.09.jpg\" alt=\"291 kamaz 22.09\" width=\"1231\" height=\"792\" \/><\/a>\r\n\r\nWe identified the elements located in the immediate vicinity of the Ukrainian border that belong to the following military units (all those units are from the Southern Military District):\r\n<ul>\r\n \t<li>Elements of the 291st Artillery Brigade from Troitskaya (Republic of Ingushetia). Equipped with <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/152_mm_howitzer_2A65\">2A65 \u201cMsta-B\u201d<\/a> towed 152 mm howitzers, 220 mm self-propelled multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS) <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/BM-27_Uragan\">BM-27 \u201cUragan\u201d<\/a>, and truck-mounted 122 mm multiple rocket launchers (MRL) <a href=\"http:\/\/www.military-today.com\/artillery\/grad.htm\">BM-21 \u201cGrad\u201d<\/a>. One of the elements of this artillery brigade, which was transferred to Crimea in the early spring, was used to form the <a title=\"Russian Occupants Started to Form New Military Units in Crimea: 8th Separate Artillery Regiment\" href=\"https:\/\/informnapalm.org\/en\/russian-occupants-started-form-new-military-units-crimea-8th-separate-artillery-regiment\/\">8th Separate Artillery Regiment<\/a> (based in Simferopol and subordinated to the ground units of the Black Sea Fleet of the Russian Federation);<\/li>\r\n \t<li>Elements of the 19th Motorized Brigade transferred from Sputnik village (near Vladikavkaz, South Ossetia). They are equipped with <a href=\"http:\/\/www.military-today.com\/artillery\/2s19_msta_s.htm\">2S19 \u201cMsta-S\u201d<\/a> self-propelled 152 mm howitzers and 122 mm MLRS <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/9A52-4_Tornado#Variants\">9A53-G \u201cTornado\u201d<\/a> (upgraded variant of BM-21 \"Grad\");<\/li>\r\n \t<li>Elements of the 18th Guards Independent Motor-Rifle Brigade from Kalinovskaya (Chechnya). They are equipped with <a href=\"http:\/\/www.military-today.com\/artillery\/2s3_akatsiya.htm\">2S3 \u201cAkatsiya\u201d<\/a> 152.4 mm self-propelled artillery and 122 mm MLRS 9A53-G \u201cTornado\u201d;<\/li>\r\n \t<li>Elements of the 136th Motorized Brigade transferred from Buynaksk (Dagestan). Equipped with 2S3 \u201cAkatsiya\u201d;<\/li>\r\n \t<li>Elements of 943rd Multiple Rocket Launcher Regiment from Krasnooktyabrskiy (Adyhea). Equipped with 220 mm MLRS BM-27 \u201cUragan\u201d;<\/li>\r\n \t<li>Elements of the 17th Guards Independent Motor-Rifle Brigade from Shali (Chechnya) or 8th Guards Independent (Mountain) Motor-Rifle Brigade from Borzoy (Chechnya). Equipped with <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/2S1_Gvozdika\">2S1 \u201cGvozdika\u201d<\/a> 122 mm self-propelled howitzers;<\/li>\r\n \t<li>Elements of the 1st Guards Missile Brigade transferred from Krasnodar.
