Soldiers and officers alike became victims of the local criminals and ethnic gangs, who collected tribute from them on a regular basis. Among the extorted there were combatants who took part in the Russian military campaigns outside of Russia. In the context of this publication, InformNapalm volunteers would like to remind the readers of the Russian military from the brigades permanently deployed in Yugra, who took part in the aggression against Ukraine.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The article on URA.RU cites examples indicating military unit 59361 (120th Artillery Brigade of the Russian Army, location: town of Yurga, Kemerovo Oblast) whose servicemen, after their missions to Syria, paid significant sums to criminals. The extortionists created a kind of &#8220;pyramid&#8221;, in which the amount of tribute was reduced for the servicemen who shared personal information of other colleagues who could be hooked.<\/p>\n<p>The interlocutors of URA.RU reported that a local crime boss, one Mudaris Tartikov, had allegedly been engaged in extortion from Russian military personnel since at least 2017. He allegedly has a whole list of almost a hundred servicemen who regularly pay tribute to him. The article also states that many local residents, from criminal elements to ethnic gangs, are engaged in extortion against Russian soldiers and officers. And this situation is not rare\u00a0\u2014 there are similar examples in other regions of the Russian Federation.<\/p>\n<p>Besides, the publication says that the three army brigades stationed in the town of Yurga, Kemerovo Oblast of Russia, have in fact become &#8220;a feeding ground for local criminals.&#8221; According to open sources, Yurga hosts:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>military unit 59361 (120th Artillery Brigade)<\/li>\n<li>military unit 21005 (74th Motorized Rifle Brigade)<\/li>\n<li>military unit 72154 (106th Logistics Brigade)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u201c<em>Actually, a new stable system of hazing has developed in Russia. The locals unite into groups, and\u00a0\u2014 using various tricks from blackmail to threats\u00a0\u2014 extort money from the military,<\/em>&#8221; the authors conclude.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>Russian military from Yugra in InformNapalm investigations<\/h2>\n<p>Interestingly, the Russian soldiers of the 120th Artillery Brigade (military unit 59361) and the 74th Motorized Rifle Brigade (military unit 21005) have repeatedly come into focus of OSINT investigations by InformNapalm as participants of the aggression against Ukraine and the military operations in Syria.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>Military unit 59361<\/h2>\n<p>For example, in 2016, InformNapalm volunteers discovered that the servicemen of the 120th Artillery Brigade of the Russian Armed Forces were <a href=\"https:\/\/informnapalm.org\/en\/ukrainian-mission-120th-artillery-brigade-russian-army\/\">involved in the aggression against Ukraine<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/informnapalm.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/23.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Also in 2016, the Russian Federation denied participation in the ground operation in Syria, insisting that only their air force were involved in the actual combat operations. However, InformNapalm volunteers discovered that the servicemen of this brigade <a href=\"https:\/\/informnapalm.org\/en\/120th-artillery-brigade-near-palmyra\/\">were spotted near Palmyra<\/a>. In 2017, we also <a href=\"https:\/\/informnapalm.org\/en\/syrian-mission-russian-120th-artillery-brigade\/\">published data<\/a> on the servicemen of this brigade awarded for participating in the Syrian campaign.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>Military unit 21005<\/h2>\n<p>InformNapalm volunteers collected even more evidence <a href=\"https:\/\/informnapalm.org\/db\/russian-aggression\/%23lang=en&amp;page=m_equip#https:\/\/informnapalm.org\/db\/russian-aggression\/#lang=ru\">systematized in 11 OSINT<\/a> investigations regarding the personnel of the 74th Motorized Rifle Brigade of the Russian army.<\/p>\n<p>For example, in 2015, volunteers found that the contract soldiers of the 74th Motorized Rifle Brigade <a href=\"https:\/\/informnapalm.org\/en\/the-russian-74th-brigade-s-contract-servicemen-fight-in-donbas-as-hooligans\/\">fought in the Donbas<\/a> under the cover of the so-called Hooligan battalion of Luhansk People&#8217;s Republic (LPR).<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/informnapalm.org\/ua\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2015\/10\/X-642x336.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In 2016, <a href=\"https:\/\/informnapalm.org\/28451-najdeny-10-tankistov\/\">a group of tankmen from the 74th Brigade<\/a> was identified. We managed to identify ten of the thirty tankmen from the tactical group of this military unit who fought in the Donbas.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/informnapalm.org\/ua\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2021\/12\/2-2.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>And in 2017 we identified, <a href=\"https:\/\/informnapalm.org\/en\/identified-group-war-criminals-mortar-battery-russian-74th-mrb\/\">another group of servicemen<\/a> from the mortar battery of the 74th Motorized Rifle Brigade, who also fought in the Donbas.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/informnapalm.org\/ua\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2021\/12\/info-2048x1102.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<h2>Conclusion<\/h2>\n<p>Since 2017, Russian criminals and ethnic gangs have actively begun collecting tribute from the soldiers and officers of the Russian army who carried out combat missions outside the Russian Federation, in Ukraine and Syria.<\/p>\n<p>Russian army officers have become hostages of criminal schemes and blackmail themselves, drawing more and more of their subordinates and colleagues into this system.<\/p>\n<p>In many regions of Russia, both law enforcement officials and employees of the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) are involved in the scheme of collecting tribute from the Russian army servicemen, because the latter regularly go on combat tours, make considerable money at war, and therefore become an attractive target for extortionists.<\/p>\n<p>At the same time, the Russian military men themselves perceive such a system of collecting tribute by criminals as an established trend, so few venture to complain. The extortionists created a kind of \"pyramid\", in which the amount of tribute was reduced for the servicemen who shared personal information of other colleagues who could be hooked.\r\n\r\nThe interlocutors of URA.RU reported that a local crime boss, one Mudaris Tartikov, had allegedly been engaged in extortion from Russian military personnel since at least 2017. He allegedly has a whole list of almost a hundred servicemen who regularly pay tribute to him. The article also states that many local residents, from criminal elements to ethnic gangs, are engaged in extortion against Russian soldiers and officers. And this situation is not rare\u00a0\u2014 there are similar examples in other regions of the Russian Federation.\r\n\r\nBesides, the publication says that the three army brigades stationed in the town of Yurga, Kemerovo Oblast of Russia, have in fact become \"a feeding ground for local criminals.\" According to open sources, Yurga hosts:\r\n<ul>\r\n \t<li>military unit 59361 (120th Artillery Brigade)<\/li>\r\n \t<li>military unit 21005 (74th Motorized Rifle Brigade)<\/li>\r\n \t<li>military unit 72154 (106th Logistics Brigade)<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n\u201c<em>Actually, a new stable system of hazing has developed in Russia. The locals unite into groups, and\u00a0\u2014 using various tricks from blackmail to threats\u00a0\u2014 extort money from the military,<\/em>\" the authors conclude.\r\n\r\n&nbsp;\r\n<h2>Russian military from Yugra in InformNapalm investigations<\/h2>\r\nInterestingly, the Russian soldiers of the 120th Artillery Brigade (military unit 59361) and the 74th Motorized Rifle Brigade (military unit 21005) have repeatedly come into focus of OSINT investigations by InformNapalm as participants of the aggression against Ukraine and the military operations in Syria.\r\n\r\n&nbsp;\r\n<h2>Military unit 59361<\/h2>\r\nFor example, in 2016, InformNapalm volunteers discovered that the servicemen of the 120th Artillery Brigade of the Russian Armed Forces were <a href=\"https:\/\/informnapalm.org\/en\/ukrainian-mission-120th-artillery-brigade-russian-army\/\">involved in the aggression against Ukraine<\/a>.\r\n\r\n<img src=\"https:\/\/informnapalm.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/23.jpg\" \/>\r\n\r\nAlso in 2016, the Russian Federation denied participation in the ground operation in Syria, insisting that only their air force were involved in the actual combat operations. However, InformNapalm volunteers discovered that the servicemen of this brigade <a href=\"https:\/\/informnapalm.org\/en\/120th-artillery-brigade-near-palmyra\/\">were spotted near Palmyra<\/a>. In 2017, we also <a href=\"https:\/\/informnapalm.org\/en\/syrian-mission-russian-120th-artillery-brigade\/\">published data<\/a> on the servicemen of this brigade awarded for participating in the Syrian campaign.\r\n\r\n&nbsp;\r\n<h2>Military unit 21005<\/h2>\r\nInformNapalm volunteers collected even more evidence <a href=\"https:\/\/informnapalm.org\/db\/russian-aggression\/%23lang=en&amp;page=m_equip#https:\/\/informnapalm.org\/db\/russian-aggression\/#lang=ru\">systematized in 11 OSINT<\/a> investigations regarding the personnel of the 74th Motorized Rifle Brigade of the Russian army.\r\n\r\nFor example, in 2015, volunteers found that the contract soldiers of the 74th Motorized Rifle Brigade <a href=\"https:\/\/informnapalm.org\/en\/the-russian-74th-brigade-s-contract-servicemen-fight-in-donbas-as-hooligans\/\">fought in the Donbas<\/a> under the cover of the so-called Hooligan battalion of Luhansk People's Republic (LPR).\r\n\r\n<img src=\"https:\/\/informnapalm.org\/ua\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2015\/10\/X-642x336.jpg\" \/>\r\n\r\n&nbsp;\r\n\r\nIn 2016, <a href=\"https:\/\/informnapalm.org\/28451-najdeny-10-tankistov\/\">a group of tankmen from the 74th Brigade<\/a> was identified. We managed to identify ten of the thirty tankmen from the tactical group of this military unit who fought in the Donbas.\r\n\r\n<img src=\"https:\/\/informnapalm.org\/ua\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2021\/12\/2-2.jpg\" \/>\r\n\r\n&nbsp;\r\n\r\nAnd in 2017 we identified, <a href=\"https:\/\/informnapalm.org\/en\/identified-group-war-criminals-mortar-battery-russian-74th-mrb\/\">another group of servicemen<\/a> from the mortar battery of the 74th Motorized Rifle Brigade, who also fought in the Donbas.\r\n\r\n<img src=\"https:\/\/informnapalm.org\/ua\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2021\/12\/info-2048x1102.jpg\" \/>\r\n<h2>Conclusion<\/h2>\r\nSince 2017, Russian criminals and ethnic gangs have actively begun collecting tribute from the soldiers and officers of the Russian army who carried out combat missions outside the Russian Federation, in Ukraine and Syria.\r\n\r\nRussian army officers have become hostages of criminal schemes and blackmail themselves, drawing more and more of their subordinates and colleagues into this system.\r\n\r\nIn many regions of Russia, both law enforcement officials and employees of the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) are involved in the scheme of collecting tribute from the Russian army servicemen, because the latter regularly go on combat tours, make considerable money at war, and therefore become an attractive target for extortionists.\r\n\r\nAt the same time, the Russian military men themselves perceive such a system of collecting tribute by criminals as an established trend, so few venture to complain.
