In the course of the identification the Russian invasion forces and weapons, we found evidence of the presence of a new (not previously identified) air-defense missile unit. This unit is the 67th\u00a0Air-Defense Missile Brigade (military unit No.32383,\u00a0Southern Military District, Vladikavkaz, North Ossetia).\u00a0\"Soldiers<\/a><\/p>\n

According to the available information, as well as photo materials, the anti-aircraft personnel of the 67th\u00a0brigade deployed to Rostov Oblast\u00a0(Russian Federation) at\u00a0the Ukrainian border in August 2014. They have been to Donbas, but now back\u00a0in Kuibyshevsky raion\u00a0of the Rostov Oblast.\u00a0 The unit operates the ‘Buk-M1’ air defense systems, the estimated size of the unit is equal to a squadron.<\/p>\n

One of\u00a0the found\u00a0photographs is particularly remarkable.\u00a0This is the picture\u00a0of the\u00a0Russian servicemen posing with the sign-plate of the Ukrainian ‘Military unit \u04100194’ (shown above). The displayed unit sign-plate belonged to the Air Defense Military Brigade of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry, located in Kamennobrodsky raion\u00a0of Luhansk Oblast. This brigade\u00a0also utilized ‘Buk’ missile systems. The\u00a0base of unit \u04100194 was taken over by the separatist forces<\/a> after the Ukrainian military had withdrawn in June, 2014.<\/p>\n

It can be assumed that the service personnel of the 67th\u00a0brigade\u00a0were \u201con leave\u201d in the occupied territories of Ukraine. The reason for their incursion to the base of the unit A0194 was probably the\u00a0recording and removing of captured equipment, vehicles and weapons.

Further evidence of the 67th\u00a0brigade’s\u00a0involvement in the war in Ukraine comes from volunteer-activist and creator of \u2018Cargo\u2013200, From Ukraine to Russia\u2019 website Yelena Vasiljeva. In the information she has published<\/a> she recorded casualties from the 67th\u00a0air-defense missile brigade in Ukraine.<\/p>\n

A short reference<\/em>: The 67th\u00a0separate air-defense\u00a0brigade\u00a0of the 58th\u00a0<\/span>general army (military unit No. 32383) was based nearby Volgograd until 2012 at the military housing area No. 77. At the end of 2012 the brigade was moved\u00a0to to Sputnik settlement nearby Vladikovkaz, Northern Ossetia. The brigade is equipped with ‘Buk’ air defense systems. During the Russian-Georgian war (August of 2008 and for some period thereafter) a detachment of this brigade was\u00a0seen in the occupied territory of Samachablo (South Ossetia) in Georgia.<\/p>\n
