{"id":4136,"date":"2015-05-05T06:44:10","date_gmt":"2015-05-05T06:44:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/informnapalm.org\/en\/?p=4136"},"modified":"2015-12-24T14:24:24","modified_gmt":"2015-12-24T14:24:24","slug":"timeline-of-events-in-ato-area-on-may-3-2015-provocations-at-the-limit","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/informnapalm.org\/en\/timeline-of-events-in-ato-area-on-may-3-2015-provocations-at-the-limit\/","title":{"rendered":"Timeline of Events in ATO Area on May 3, 2015: Provocations at the Limit"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This timeline was prepared by the InformNapalm team and was based on the information from our insiders in the occupied territories, as well as the information from public sources.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Sector C<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Donetsk<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Nighttime shelling of Donetsk airport continued until the morning of May 3.<\/p>\n<p>At 09:00 the residents observed a\u00a0gathering of Russian soldiers (ca. 15 men) near School No 95.<\/p>\n<p>At 10:20 several SUVs and approximately\u00a020 people\u00a0wearing\u00a0vests with PRESS inscriptions were observed on Kyivskyi Avenue near Vetka.<\/p>\n<p>Between 10:30 and 12:30 infrequent movement\u00a0of weaponry, solitary shots and sounds of remote explosions were observed\u00a0in the city.<\/p>\n<p>Around 13:00 a\u00a0convoy of militants\u2019 weaponry passed via the center towards Kyivskyi District, towing six howitzers of the calibers over 120mm. The journalists of \u201cRadio Svoboda\u201d were able to film\u00a0the convoy.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/9VYTACEaH4I\" width=\"800\" height=\"450\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Al Gri, the InformNapalm team expert, identified the weaponry: the video shows three D-30 howitzers (122mm) and three 2A65 Msta-B 152mm towed howitzers. Please note\u00a0that Kyivskyi District is located less than 10km away from the demarcation line established\u00a0by the Minsk agreements. Therefore, the presence of guns of over 100mm caliber in this area is a gross violation of the ceasefire\u00a0agreements.<\/p>\n<p>At 17:05 three MTLB APCs\u00a0and two Ural trucks, overloaded with fighters\u00a0of the Sparta terrorist battalion, went northbound\u00a0through Universytetska Street and Zolote Kiltse.<\/p>\n<p>At 19:40 militants\u2019 heavy artillery started shelling.<\/p>\n<p>At 19:47 the militants of combined\u00a0Russian-separatist forces (CRSF) towed\u00a0another\u00a0set\u00a0of howitzers towards Donetsk airport.<\/p>\n<p>After 21:00 militants\u2019 Ural trucks moved through Makiivske Avenue towards Donetsk with the frequency of 2-3 vehicles every 20-30 minutes.<\/p>\n<p>At 21:52 the movement of a Strela-10 anti-aircraft system was observed through the Kalininskyi District westwards. It should be\u00a0noted\u00a0that the militants use these systems to destroy UAVs.<\/p>\n<p>After 22:20 the shelling by the\u00a0militants\u2019 heavy\u00a0artillery started from Putylivskyi District, Durna Balka (47\u00b059\u201922\u2033N 37\u00b044\u201941\u2033E) and Kuybyshevska mine.<\/p>\n<p>Closer to the nighttime the militants shelled Yasynuvata, Yakovlivka, and Avdiivka from different parts of Donetsk.<\/p>\n<p>Also, the residents report\u00a0that militants bombarded\u00a0Donetsk during the night with\u00a0mortars located at\u00a0the track maintenance depot at Yasynuvata station near the\u00a0railroad security office.<\/p>\n<p>The increased frequency of artillery shelling used by the militants for provocation could be caused by their desire to bargain for more concessions from the Ukrainian authorities. This is also suggested by the latest statement of the DNR representative Denis Pushilin, claiming that the next meeting of the contact group could\u00a0take place in Minsk in the next two to three days.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Avdiivka<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In Avdiivka an OSCE patrol came under artillery fire. The shelling was conducted with\u00a0152mm artillery, which is\u00a0proscribed\u00a0by the ceasefire\u00a0agreements. The Chief Monitor of the Special Monitoring Mission to Ukraine Ambassador Ertugrul Apakan expressed his deep concern regarding the growing number of incidents, which involve the representatives of SMM in Donbas, as the official site of this organization reported.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Khartsyzk <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>At 13:02 residents witnessed the first shots\u00a0of outgoing artillery fire by\u00a0CRSF militants, which started for no reason. This might indicate the provocative nature\u00a0of the militants\u2019 actions.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Horlivka<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>At 23:06 CRSF fired their artillery\u00a0at Dzerzhynsk suburbs.<\/p>\n<p>At 23:24 powerful outgoing artillery shots were also heard in the central part of the town.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Sectors B and M<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Dokuchaivsk<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The residents report\u00a0a strict ban on alcohol for CRSF militants. Violators are\u00a0punished\u00a0by being placed in a pit. However, marijuana\u00a0is not prohibited, which is\u00a0why many of the\u00a0militants are high all the time.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Shyrokyne<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The militants continued intensive shelling of Shyrokine.<\/p>\n<p>At 19:10 CRSF militants shelled the village with Grad MLRS.<\/p>\n<p>At 19:47 the terrorists continued shelling with 152mm\u00a0artillery.<\/p>\n<p>A firefight started when the terrorists made a raid attempt, but were pushed back.\u00a0The fight finished at approximately\u00a022:00. The militants retreated to their positions. Two Ukrainian soldiers were\u00a0injured. There is no information on\u00a0casualties among the attackers.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Sector A<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>After <a href=\"https:\/\/informnapalm.org\/en\/timeline-events-ato-area-may-2-2015\/\">the earlier hostilities<\/a>, the previous\u00a0night was relatively calm in Luhansk Oblast. Minor small arms shootouts occurred in Novotoshkivka, on the Bakhmutka highway near Checkpoint 29, and in Katerynivka.<\/p>\n<p>From 16:00 to 16:30 the militants were testing the Ukrainian Army defenses at\u00a0the fortified post near Krymskevillage. The attack was defeated.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Antratsyt<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Sergei Bondarenko (also known as Bondar and Bendiks), the leader\u00a0of the local terrorist group Rus, who disappeared from the town after his assassination attempt and house-to-house searches, showed up in Krasnoyarskyi Krai in Russia. There he was apprehended by FSB and later released. Therefore, the presence of guns of over 100mm caliber in this area is a gross violation of the ceasefire\u00a0agreements.\r\n\r\nAt 17:05 three MTLB APCs\u00a0and two Ural trucks, overloaded with fighters\u00a0of the Sparta terrorist battalion, went northbound\u00a0through Universytetska Street and Zolote Kiltse.\r\n\r\nAt 19:40 militants\u2019 heavy artillery started shelling.\r\n\r\nAt 19:47 the militants of combined\u00a0Russian-separatist forces (CRSF) towed\u00a0another\u00a0set\u00a0of howitzers towards Donetsk airport.\r\n\r\nAfter 21:00 militants\u2019 Ural trucks moved through Makiivske Avenue towards Donetsk with the frequency of 2-3 vehicles every 20-30 minutes.\r\n\r\nAt 21:52 the movement of a Strela-10 anti-aircraft system was observed through the Kalininskyi District westwards. It should be\u00a0noted\u00a0that the militants use these systems to destroy UAVs.\r\n\r\nAfter 22:20 the shelling by the\u00a0militants\u2019 heavy\u00a0artillery started from Putylivskyi District, Durna Balka (47\u00b059\u201922\u2033N 37\u00b044\u201941\u2033E) and Kuybyshevska mine.\r\n\r\nCloser to the nighttime the militants shelled Yasynuvata, Yakovlivka, and Avdiivka from different parts of Donetsk.\r\n\r\nAlso, the residents report\u00a0that militants bombarded\u00a0Donetsk during the night with\u00a0mortars located at\u00a0the track maintenance depot at Yasynuvata station near the\u00a0railroad security office.\r\n\r\nThe increased frequency of artillery shelling used by the militants for provocation could be caused by their desire to bargain for more concessions from the Ukrainian authorities. This is also suggested by the latest statement of the DNR representative Denis Pushilin, claiming that the next meeting of the contact group could\u00a0take place in Minsk in the next two to three days.\r\n\r\n<strong>Avdiivka<\/strong>\r\n\r\nIn Avdiivka an OSCE patrol came under artillery fire. The shelling was conducted with\u00a0152mm artillery, which is\u00a0proscribed\u00a0by the ceasefire\u00a0agreements. The Chief Monitor of the Special Monitoring Mission to Ukraine Ambassador Ertugrul Apakan expressed his deep concern regarding the growing number of incidents, which involve the representatives of SMM in Donbas, as the official site of this organization reported.\r\n\r\n<strong>Khartsyzk <\/strong>\r\n\r\nAt 13:02 residents witnessed the first shots\u00a0of outgoing artillery fire by\u00a0CRSF militants, which started for no reason. This might indicate the provocative nature\u00a0of the militants\u2019 actions.\r\n\r\n<strong>Horlivka<\/strong>\r\n\r\nAt 23:06 CRSF fired their artillery\u00a0at Dzerzhynsk suburbs.\r\n\r\nAt 23:24 powerful outgoing artillery shots were also heard in the central part of the town.\r\n\r\n<strong>Sectors B and M<\/strong>\r\n\r\n<strong>Dokuchaivsk<\/strong>\r\n\r\nThe residents report\u00a0a strict ban on alcohol for CRSF militants. Violators are\u00a0punished\u00a0by being placed in a pit.
