InformNapalm team has finished\u00a0gathering and analysis of the open source materials (found in forums and social networks) about the Russian ‘Murmansk-BN’ electronic warfare complex which rooted in Crimea.<\/strong><\/p>\n

In the beginning of December, 2014, the Russian media ‘Krym Nash’<\/a> [Crimea is ours<\/em>] reported:<\/p>\n

The Black Sea Fleet’s\u00a0electronic warfare center started assimilation of the new ‘Murmansk’ complex. The ‘Murmansk-BN’ (GT-01) automated UHF\u00a0suppression complex is designed to\u00a0suppress the\u00a0shortwave links between\u00a0the enemy’s operational command levels.<\/em><\/p>\n

The maritime electronic warfare support is a kind of the combat support of the\u00a0fleet’s forces. Its purpose is to disclose the systems and means of the enemy’s\u00a0forces command facilities and antiship weapons, their electronic suppression and the electronic protection of own systems and command facilities, as well as\u00a0counterintelligence.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

But in two weeks one of the Sevastopol media reports<\/a> the deep concern of the locals about the high hazard level objects:<\/div>\n

“The Sevastopol residents who live near Fiolenta and Khersonessky lighthouse are concerned about the appearance of the new Russian military units near their private houses.\u00a0<\/em><\/em><\/p>\n

Owners of private mini hotels are worried even more. The\u00a0domestic premises, built during partly demilitarization of Sevastopol areas, now appear\u00a0to be\u00a0in close proximity to high hazard level objects, including\u00a0health hazards. These are different modern powerful\u00a0radars for detection and suppression of the electronic objects,\u00a0as well as the coastal\u00a0antiship missiles complexes. The locals complain of\u00a0unstable operation of mobile communication, radio and television devices.<\/em><\/p>\n

The people are most worried about the high powerful antenna masts which appeared at Fiolenta near Georgiev\u00a0monastery. The official information in Russia’s Black See Fleet newspaper ‘Flag Rodiny’ [Motherland’s Flag] about the ‘Murmansk’ electronic warfare system deployment (as part of the 475th electronic center) was given\u00a0in keeping with the best traditions of Soviet propaganda. According to the organizers this equipment will elate friendlies and frighten enemies.<\/em><\/p>\n

But the locals\u00a0cast a wary eye at the antennas placed 150 m away from their houses, also they sure that the radio emission will be strong. They justify their assumptions\u00a0by the fact that servicemen have special hoods for protection while working with the equipment. Gardeners also fear that their\u00a0homesteads placed near the renewed military objects will be confiscated.”<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

On March 20, 2014, ‘RIA Novosti’ reported about the North Fleet training\u00a0using the latest ‘Murmansk-NB’ complex:<\/p>\n

“The characteristics of ‘Murmansk-NB’ system allows it to disorganize the command of a potential enemy’s\u00a0forces. It works on the distance up to 5 thousands kilometers.” – states the North Fleet’s electronic warefare center commander, the captain II rank, Dmitri Popov.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

According to him, these complexes make the basis of the Fleet’s electronic warfare. ‘Murmansk-NB’ was put into service in December, 2014. At this moment the equipment is successfully assimilated.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

The system conducts radio intelligence, intercepts enemy signals and suppresses them. It works over the whole shortwave range.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

“Our task for today is to make impossible data transmission from scout aircrafts of the potential enemy. The effectiveness of the complex is 100%. All the real-time tasks were completed” – summarizes Popov<\/i>“.<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

I am almost tempted to say: “Hey, Russia!!! What kind of scout aircrafts do you mean? We observe you online via the satellites – and you are talking about planes. *facepalm*”.<\/p>\n

Fresh photos of four ‘Murmansk-BN’ complexes in the territory<\/a> of the 475th separate electronic center (military unit No. 60135, Sevastopol)\u00a0were published<\/a>\u00a0yesterday:<\/p>\n

Let’s note that one complex consists of six pieces of equipment (it is mentioned in the only open source<\/a>) and they can be seen in the satellite pictures.<\/p>\n

One of the Russian forums hosts<\/a> photos of the ‘Murmansk-NB’ electronic warfare complexes and states that they were made in June of 2015, but the meta data gives us a different date – March 3, 2015.<\/p>\n

This way, the occupied Crimea is still being filled with the Russian military equipment and means which are\u00a0not safe for health. Chasing its situational ambitions and flexing muscules,\u00a0Russia wastes the unique nature of Crimea.<\/p>\n

They justify their assumptions\u00a0by the fact that servicemen have special hoods for protection while working with the equipment. Gardeners also fear that their\u00a0homesteads placed near the renewed military objects will be confiscated.\"<\/em><\/blockquote>\r\nOn March 20, 2014, 'RIA Novosti' reported about the North Fleet training\u00a0using the latest 'Murmansk-NB' complex:\r\n<blockquote><em>\"The characteristics of 'Murmansk-NB' system allows it to disorganize the command of a potential enemy's\u00a0forces. It works on the distance up to 5 thousands kilometers.\" - states the North Fleet's electronic warefare center commander, the captain II rank, Dmitri Popov.\u00a0<\/em>\r\n\r\n<em>According to him, these complexes make the basis of the Fleet's electronic warfare. 'Murmansk-NB' was put into service in December, 2014. At this moment the equipment is successfully assimilated.\u00a0<\/em>\r\n\r\n<em>The system conducts radio intelligence, intercepts enemy signals and suppresses them.
