Based on the\u00a0results of a recent OSINT investigation, we\u00a0would like to present new facts of the Russian military units\u2019 participation in the conflict in Donbas (the biggest database with investigation results can be found here<\/a>). This article contains the information regarding the \u2018Ukrainian assignments\u2019 of the 18th\u00a0separate motorized rifle brigade (military unit No. 27777, 58th\u00a0general military army,\u00a0Southern Military District,\u00a0Khankala and Kalinovskaya villages, Republic of\u00a0Chechnya, Russia). In particular, here are evidence of three\u00a0trips to Donbas of a\u00a0serviceman from the mentioned military unit that has been in the field of our interest for several times already.<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n

Roman Leonidovich Rever<\/strong> is registered on VKontakte social network\u00a0as Roman Revera<\/a> (profile archive<\/a>, photo album archive<\/a>, contacts archive<\/a>), and as\u00a0revejra<\/a>\u00a0(archive<\/a>) on Instagram. Judging by his posts and pictures, Roman\u00a0was born on April 18, 1991 in Vladikavkaz, North Ossetia. He served in the internal troops of the Russian Ministry for Internal Affairs.<\/p>\n

Starting from\u00a02014 R. Rever served in\u00a0the 18th brigade\u00a0located in Chechnya. At first, in 2014, he served in 2S3 ‘Akatsiya’ self-propelled gun artillery division. In\u00a02015 he moved to the\u00a0reconnaissance battalion of the same brigade. As it is known, there are plenty of\u00a0vacancies in this battalion of the 18th\u00a0brigade, since lots of contract servicemen break\u00a0their contracts after returning from Donbas. Those who were killed in Ukraine are not recognized as the ones who served here, as it happened\u00a0to\u00a0Denis Husainov<\/a> who was retrospectively dismissed<\/a>\u00a0as a ‘LPR’ fighter. The first trip<\/strong>\u00a0of Roman Rever took place\u00a0in the summer and fall of 2014 during the peak of combat actions’ escalation in Donbas. At that time the\u00a0Russian military machine\u00a0saw how the Ukrainian soldiers overturn the situation and\u00a0the Russian puppets began to cede their positions. Thus, Russia embarked on hostilities and started shelling\u00a0the\u00a0Ukrainian armed\u00a0forces near the\u00a0border areas, also numerous Russian tactical groups entered\u00a0Donbas.<\/p>\n

We demonstrated several T-72B tanks with red side numbers which belonged to\u00a0the 18th brigade\u00a0in the\u00a0\u2018Putin\u2019s Eleven\u2019 \u2014 Selfie Soldiers of 18th Russian Motorized Rifles Brigade in Donbas\u2019<\/a><\/em>\u00a0article from July. The red three digits side\u00a0numbers on tanks,\u00a0self-propelled guns\u00a0and other vehicles were used by\u00a0the 18th brigade. As the\u00a0confirmation of this we show the slides from <\/em>the ‘twower\u2019 Russian blog from\u00a0October 14, 2011<\/a>,<\/em> where numerous pictures of\u00a0vehicles belonging to this military unit and marked with\u00a0red three digits side numbers can be found. We discovered that T-72B tanks and part of 2S3 guns<\/em>\u00a0(replaced by\u00a0T-72 B3 and 2S19 \u2018Msta\u2019 guns during the brigade’s rearmament<\/em>) <\/em>were moved to equipment storage bases\u00a0in Krasnodar krai in 2014. Taking into account all the mentioned above, we can assume\u00a0that the \u2018removed from use’ tanks and self-propelled guns\u00a0were deliberately and beforehand transported closer to Ukraine to be used\u00a0later in Donbas.<\/em><\/p>\n

The second trip<\/strong> by Roman Rever took place\u00a0after a\u00a0five-month break, which lasted from November 2014 till March 2015. Apparently, Rever got bored from the duties\u00a0and living in the Chechen garrison and gained a chance to draw a\u00a0triple salary\u00a0in the\u00a0status of a\u00a0‘volunteer’-scout during another escalation of the conflict in\u00a0Donbas near Debaltseve when the Russian military authorities\u00a0used the tactical groups from Rostov Oblast to overturn the situation in favor of Russia. As a result of his second trip, Rever was awarded with \u2018Marshall Zhukov\u2019 consolation medal according to the order of the commander of the 18th brigade\u00a0dated on February 17, 2015.<\/p>\n

In May of 2015 Rever came back from Donbas\u00a0and went to rest\u00a0by the sea and then to his native city of Vladikavkaz. Having rested, he returned\u00a0to garrison living in the 18th brigade\u00a0in Chechnya, but it did not last long, only a couple of\u00a0months.<\/p>\n

Roman Rever’s thirt trip <\/strong>happened in August 2015, when another combined unit of the 18th brigade moved to Donbas and soon\u00a0was turned<\/a> into the “People’s Militia of Novorossiya”. Last pictures uploaded to Instagram had\u00a0geotags “Krasny Luch’s\u00a0police\u00a0department” and “Horlivka medical school”.<\/p>\n
