This time a Russian officer serving at the rocket artillery division, the 28th\u00a0separate motorized rifle\u00a0brigade, helped us to disclose his tactical group&#8217;s non-friendly movements from steppe in the Rostov Oblast\u00a0to Ukraine by uploading a picture of his medal, which was received based on the results of this &#8216;business trip&#8217;. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Our OSINT investigation has identified a Russian officer <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/vk.com\/apels116\">Rodion Zobunov<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>from a rocket artillery division of the 28th\u00a0brigade\u00a0(military unit No. 61423, Yekaterinburg, Central Military District).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Background information: <\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Name:<strong>\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/vk.com\/apels116\">Rodion Nailevich Zobunov<\/a><\/strong> (archives of the <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.is\/x1iXd\">profile<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.is\/1vDT0\">album<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.is\/RmTPj\">contacts<\/a> and \u2018Odnoklassniki\u2019 social network<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.is\/lVFfT\"> page<\/a>).<\/li>\n<li>Born: on September 15, 1989 (in Kazan city).<\/li>\n<li>Military rank: senior lieutenant.<\/li>\n<li>Place of service: a rocket artillery division, BM-21 &#8216;Grad\u2019 MLRS (a multiple launch rocket system).<\/li>\n<li>Education: graduated from the Kazan artillery command college.<\/li>\n<li>A vehicle registration plate No.:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.is\/IVSg1\"><em>\u0421656\u0421\u0425\/116RUS<\/em><\/a><em>.<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/informnapalm.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/Screenshot004-1.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-17279\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-17279\" src=\"https:\/\/informnapalm.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/Screenshot004-1.jpg\" alt=\"Screenshot004\" width=\"900\" height=\"875\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>While researching Rodion Zobunov&#8217;s profile we paid attention to the following interesting fact: after multiple \u2018Rostov military trainings\u2019, which included usage of the \u2018Grad\u2019 systems, this Russian artillery officer was awarded a medal \u2018For Distinction in Combat\u2019. It is important to mention that this medal can be awarded <strong>for the military actions only. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Reading from the\u00a0award list to the senior lieutenant Rodion Zobunov&#8217;s medal \u2018For Distinction in Combat\u2019: a medal <strong>No. 5741<\/strong> awarded based on the Ministry of Defense Order <strong>No. 591 dated August 6, 2015<\/strong>, signed by <strong>Lieutenant Colonel D. Baranov<\/strong>, Acting Head of the Staff of\u00a0<strong>a military unit No. 61423<\/strong>. A geotag under the photo of this medal also looks interesting: Simferopolskaya str., Yekaterinburg \u2013 this is exactly where the 32nd military town and 28th brigade\u00a0are located. Archives:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.is\/krFaD\">1<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.is\/9IjZl\">2<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/informnapalm.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/Screenshot-1.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-17271\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-17271\" src=\"https:\/\/informnapalm.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/Screenshot-1.jpg\" alt=\"Screenshot\" width=\"900\" height=\"848\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u00adThis award is not one, which is given here and there like a medal \u2018For the Return of Crimea\u2019. This medal is definitely not awarded for some ordinary military trainings. This is a pretty rare and significant award. Initially it was frequently given for the military operations in Chechnya and later in Georgia; the third wave of its awarding can be identified as the Ukrainian campaign \u2013 so, <strong>this is an award for the Russian military representatives for killing the Ukrainians. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Note<\/strong>: Medal \u2018<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.is\/CjDjV\">For Distinction in Combat<\/a>\u2019 is one of the Russian Ministry of Defense awards for the Russian army. It is given:<\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em>For distinction, courage, and dedication demonstrated while <strong>fulfilling the military operation tasks and those ones considered as life-threatening operations;<\/strong><\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>For skilled, initiative<\/em><em>,<\/em><em> and decisive actions, which helped to successfully fulfill the military tasks;<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>For the successful leadership while <strong>fulfilling the military operations<\/strong>.<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Despite Rodion Zobunov was smart enough to not place too much information to his uploaded photo (<em>i.e. geotags or easily recognizable places &amp; objects<\/em>) allowing to understand that they were made in Ukraine sometime between December 2014 and March 2015 (it was a pinnacle of the military actions), he uploaded pictures showing the bordering \u2018military trainings\u2019. Pretty often firing were maintained using a so-called nomadic tactics \u2013 when the mobile rocket systems fire from the Rostov Oblast\u00a0(on the border with Ukraine) towards Ukraine or move temporarily to the Ukrainian territories to fire and return back to Russia. All of this had been described earlier in our articles covering the Russian rocket artillery, which took part in the military actions against Ukraine: <a href=\"https:\/\/informnapalm.org\/en\/tour-duty-200th-special-purpose-separate-motor-rifle-brigade-northern-fleet-russian-navy-rostov-region-ukraine\/\" target=\"_blank\">the 200th brigade<\/a>\u00a0(military unit No. 08275, located in Pechenga, Murmansk Oblast, <a href=\"https:\/\/informnapalm.org\/3999-reaktyvnaya-artylleryya-7-j-rossyjskoj-okkupatsyonnoj-bazy-yz-abhazyy-na-granytse-s-donbassom\/\">the 7th military base<\/a> (military unit No. 09332, located in Gudauta, occupied territory of Abkhazia, Georgia), <a href=\"https:\/\/informnapalm.org\/en\/291st-artillery-brigades-tour-duty-crimea-donbass\/\" target=\"_blank\">the 291st artillery brigade<\/a> (military unit No. 64670, located in stanitsa Troitskaya, Ingushetia, Northern Caucasus of Russia).<\/p>\n<p>Taking into account all the information above, it is hard to believe that the detachment commander got a military medal for taking part in common training activities, and that the officer travelled 1700 km just to\u00a0launch several &#8216;Grad&#8217; missiles over the border with Ukraine.<\/p>\n<p><strong>It is necessary to stress that the above mentioned 28th brigade\u00a0from Yekaterinburg has been mentioned in our materials in regards to the \u2018Rostov-Ukraine business trips\u2019 (near the Ukrainian border as well as in Ukraine: Donetsk, Stakhanov, Bryanka, etc). It is important to mention that this medal can be awarded <strong>for the military actions only. <\/strong>\r\n\r\nReading from the\u00a0award list to the senior lieutenant Rodion Zobunov's medal \u2018For Distinction in Combat\u2019: a medal <strong>No. 5741<\/strong> awarded based on the Ministry of Defense Order <strong>No. 591 dated August 6, 2015<\/strong>, signed by <strong>Lieutenant Colonel D. Baranov<\/strong>, Acting Head of the Staff of\u00a0<strong>a military unit No. 61423<\/strong>. A geotag under the photo of this medal also looks interesting: Simferopolskaya str., Yekaterinburg \u2013 this is exactly where the 32nd military town and 28th brigade\u00a0are located. This medal is definitely not awarded for some ordinary military trainings. This is a pretty rare and significant award. Initially it was frequently given for the military operations in Chechnya and later in Georgia; the third wave of its awarding can be identified as the Ukrainian campaign \u2013 so, <strong>this is an award for the Russian military representatives for killing the Ukrainians. <\/strong>\r\n\r\n<em><strong>Note<\/strong>: Medal \u2018<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.is\/CjDjV\">For Distinction in Combat<\/a>\u2019 is one of the Russian Ministry of Defense awards for the Russian army. It is given:<\/em>\r\n<ul>\r\n\t<li><em>For distinction, courage, and dedication demonstrated while <strong>fulfilling the military operation tasks and those ones considered as life-threatening operations;<\/strong><\/em><\/li>\r\n\t<li><em>For skilled, initiative<\/em><em>,<\/em><em> and decisive actions, which helped to successfully fulfill the military tasks;<\/em><\/li>\r\n\t<li><em>For the successful leadership while <strong>fulfilling the military operations<\/strong>.<\/em><\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\nDespite Rodion Zobunov was smart enough to not place too much information to his uploaded photo (<em>i.e. geotags or easily recognizable places &amp; objects<\/em>) allowing to understand that they were made in Ukraine sometime between December 2014 and March 2015 (it was a pinnacle of the military actions), he uploaded pictures showing the bordering \u2018military trainings\u2019. Pretty often firing were maintained using a so-called nomadic tactics \u2013 when the mobile rocket systems fire from the Rostov Oblast\u00a0(on the border with Ukraine) towards Ukraine or move temporarily to the Ukrainian territories to fire and return back to Russia. All of this had been described earlier in our articles covering the Russian rocket artillery, which took part in the military actions against Ukraine: <a href=\"https:\/\/informnapalm.org\/en\/tour-duty-200th-special-purpose-separate-motor-rifle-brigade-northern-fleet-russian-navy-rostov-region-ukraine\/\" target=\"_blank\">the 200th brigade<\/a>\u00a0(military unit No. 08275, located in Pechenga, Murmansk Oblast, <a href=\"https:\/\/informnapalm.org\/3999-reaktyvnaya-artylleryya-7-j-rossyjskoj-okkupatsyonnoj-bazy-yz-abhazyy-na-granytse-s-donbassom\/\">the 7th military base<\/a> (military unit No. 09332, located in Gudauta, occupied territory of Abkhazia, Georgia), <a href=\"https:\/\/informnapalm.org\/en\/291st-artillery-brigades-tour-duty-crimea-donbass\/\" target=\"_blank\">the 291st artillery brigade<\/a> (military unit No. 64670, located in stanitsa Troitskaya, Ingushetia, Northern Caucasus of Russia).\r\n\r\nTaking into account all the information above, it is hard to believe that the detachment commander got a military medal for taking part in common training activities, and that the officer travelled 1700 km just to\u00a0launch several 'Grad' missiles over the border with Ukraine.\r\n\r\n<strong>It is necessary to stress that the above mentioned 28th brigade\u00a0from Yekaterinburg has been mentioned in our materials in regards to the \u2018Rostov-Ukraine business trips\u2019 (near the Ukrainian border as well as in Ukraine: Donetsk, Stakhanov, Bryanka, etc).
