Moreover, the audit was initiated not by the Russian distributor but the antivirus company&#8217;s central office\u00a0in Bratislava.\u00a0In particular, by a\u00a0Russian expert, who has long settled down in the headquarters of ESET.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>MFA of Ukraine, the media and other officials, unfortunately, did not respond to the given incident. It is strange that the anti-virus company got away with the assistance to the terrorists and protection of the Russian militants\u00a0from the Ukrainian cyber attacks.<\/p>\n<h2>Why did ESET help terrorists<\/h2>\n<p>Just a few days before the ESET&#8217;s controversial report, on May 9, the Ukrainian hackers from the cyber alliance of FalconsFlame and Trinity <a href=\"https:\/\/informnapalm.org\/en\/ukrainian-hackers-opmay9\/\">hacked the official websites of &#8216;DPR&#8217; terrorist enclave and several outreach resources of the pro-Russian militants<\/a>. Obviously, such a cheeky action seriously troubled the Russian leadership and security services. They were quick to give their\u00a0answer.<strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>And now, a few days later, a\u00a0press release with the investigation of cyber espionage over\u00a0&#8216;militia&#8217; was\u00a0posted on a well-known resource habrahabr.ru\u00a0in the ESET&#8217;s blog which is positioned as the official blog of the Russian office of the\u00a0company. By the way, here is a quote from the press release:<em> &#8220;The main objectives of groundbait were militia of the Eastern Ukraine&#8221;<\/em>. Soon, fearing resonance, the article\u00a0was &#8216;cleaned up&#8217; as reported by Artem Baranov, a leading virus analyst at ESET in Russia:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/informnapalm.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/Screenshot_19.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-23497\" src=\"https:\/\/informnapalm.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/Screenshot_19.png\" alt=\"Screenshot_19\" width=\"585\" height=\"222\" \/><\/a>It is obvious that ESET antivirus company conducted its\u00a0research on the basis of the data provided by representatives of terrorist of &#8216;DPR&#8217; and &#8216;LPR&#8217;. Otherwise, how could\u00a0ESET have got the\u00a0specific emails&#8217; topics and attached documents. Below is a fragment from the research, translated\u00a0by ESET in the Ukrainian:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/informnapalm.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/Screenshot_20.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-23498\" src=\"https:\/\/informnapalm.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/Screenshot_20.png\" alt=\"Screenshot_20\" width=\"776\" height=\"240\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>ESET positions itself as\u00a0apolitical but it is plain to see that they collaborate with the Russian terrorists in Donbas.<\/p>\n<p>Special attention should be paid to the author of research &#8211; Anton Cherepanov, a specialist from the\u00a0Slovak office. We were not able to find\u00a0his profile in social networks, just his\u00a0Twitter account. And his <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/anton-cherepanov-b8653276\">LinkedIn profile<\/a> says\u00a0that he graduated from the South Ural State University (Chelyabinsk, Russia) in 2009.<\/p>\n<p>Anton Cherepanov not only carried out the research, but also made a presentation on this topic at Positive Hack Days forum, which took place in Moscow on May 17-18. In other words, the specialist actively promotes the story how the ruthless Ukrainian special services keep tabs on the &#8216;poor militia&#8217; (read &#8211; &#8216;<em>terrorists&#8217;<\/em>).<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/informnapalm.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/Screenshot_21.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-23499\" src=\"https:\/\/informnapalm.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/Screenshot_21.png\" alt=\"Screenshot_21\" width=\"701\" height=\"501\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Any journalist and blogger who feel like it can address\u00a0Anton Cherepanov\u00a0via\u00a0his email <a href=\"mailto:cherepanov@eset.sk\">cherepanov@eset.sk<\/a>. For instance, it would be very interesting to know with whom of the militants or Russian curators contacted Anton Cherepanov, did he receive any reward for his research, what is the interest of the ESET company in this case, etc.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Will ESET be banned in Ukraine?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>An anti-virus company that has access to the objects of national importance becomes very dangerous if &#8216;third parties&#8217;\u00a0meddle in\u00a0its processes. For example, Evgeny Kaspersky graduated from the KGB Higher School in 1987, and starting from\u00a02012, according to Bloomberg data, cooperation between &#8216;Kaspersky labs&#8217; and\u00a0the Russian special services have increased dramatically.
