Prologue <\/strong><\/h2>\n

The VSS Vintorez (\u0412\u0438\u043d\u0442\u043e\u0432\u043a\u0430 \u0421\u043d\u0430\u0439\u043f\u0435\u0440\u0441\u043a\u0430\u044f \u0421\u043f\u0435\u0446\u0438\u0430\u043b\u044c\u043d\u0430\u044f, Vintovka Snayperskaya Spetsialnaya, or \u2018Special Sniper Rifle\u2019) is a suppressed sniper rifle that is used by Spetsnaz (Special Forces) units, GRAU designation 6P29<\/strong>. It was developed in the late 1980\u2019s by TsNIITochMash in Klimovsk under the guidance of Petr Serdukov. The name Vintorez (\u2018thread cutter\u2019) remains, after its use in the design documentation. <\/span>
\n<\/span>The new rifle withstood the preliminary tests. However, in 1985, \u00a0new requirements for silent firearms were approved, according to which it had to hit the enemy in \u00a06B2 flak jackets at a distance of 400 m. As a result of this new requirement, the rifle designers came to the conclusion that the RG037 cartridge would be ineffective, so further work on the project was halted, and soon the sniper rifle was completely redesigned for 9\u00d739 mm cartridge (SP-5, SP-6 and PAB-9<\/strong>).<\/span>
\n<\/span>KGB and GRU units received this rifle in 1987. It is currently used in the special forces units of the Airborne Troops, the FSB, the GRU and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation. The rifle was previously used by Special Forces of the KGB of Belarus, but in the absence of local production of the SP-5 and SP-6 cartridges and no prospects for their supply, it was replaced with other types of firearms. <\/span>This rifle and ammunition for it has never been supplied to Ukraine.<\/b><\/p>\n

Episode I<\/strong><\/h2>\n

On May 16, 2015 in the area of the ATO near Shchastya, Russian soldiers of the 3rd separate brigade of the special purpose GRU, 21208 military base of Tolyatti, Sergeant A. Alexandrov and Captain E. Yerofeyev were captured. During this skirmish, one Ukrainian soldier was killed and three were wounded. One of the detainees was shot in the arm (Captain Yerofeyev), and one other (Sergeant Alexandrov) – in the leg. The detainees were transferred to Kiev, to the Main Clinical Hospital of Ministry of Defense. On May 29, they had surgeries. On May 19, Ukrainian investigators announced that the two detainees were suspected of committing crimes under article 258-3 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, in connection with their participation in terrorist activities for the LNR. On May 18, 2015 at a briefing<\/a> for the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, \u00a0a Vintorez rifle without its optical sight PSO-1-1<\/strong> and ammunition of 9×39 \u00a0mm caliber SP-5<\/strong>, seized from Captain Yerofeyev during his capture, was displayed.<\/span><\/p>\n

Episode II<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Anatoliy Ageev<\/strong> is a militant of the terrorist organization LNR (profile<\/a>, album<\/a>), date of birth 12\/14\/1991, hometown: Groznyi, education: Belgorod University of Cooperation, Economy and Law (alumnus of 2011), mob. phone: +79611730538, served for the military unit 3703 of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation in 2009-2010, contract service – in the Krasnodar Krai, town of Labinsk, military unit 3219, the 451th Regiment of operational use of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation since 2010. He uploaded his picture with three Vintorez rifles to his album on September 8, 2014. According to its geotag, this picture<\/a> was taken in the village of Hryaschevka, Krasnodon Raion of Luhansk Oblast.<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span>Since Ageev is a gunner (conclusions are based on analysis of the album<\/a>), he was given a rifle to hold only during the photo shooting. Presumably, Russian military personnel, who are the owners of these rifles, are with him posing for the camera. Another Ageev\u2019s photo <\/a>with the Vintorez:<\/span><\/p>\n

Episode III<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Eugene Rahmatullin<\/strong> lives in Krasnodon, Luhansk Oblast (page<\/a>, album<\/a>), a militant of the terrorist organization LNR. He posted the photo<\/a> with the Vintorez rifle to his album on September 2, 2014. Because Ageev is listed as Rahmatullin\u2019s friend <\/a>and the photos were uploaded in the same period and had similar backgrounds, we can see they were made at the same place.<\/span><\/p>\n

Episode IV. Ammunition<\/strong><\/h2>\n

In the summer of 2014, Russia supplied large amounts of weapons and ammunition to Donbas, including ammunition for the Vintorez rifle. In July, after the liberation of the city of Slovyansk by \u00a0the Ukrainian army, in a video by Channel 5 among the various ammunition seized from the \u2018Girkin\u2019s band\u2019 the capping of SP-6<\/strong> cartridges (sniper, enhanced penetration) 9×39<\/strong> mm caliber \u00a0used for Val or Vintorez rifles, was displayed.<\/span><\/p>\n

Lot number, year and manufacturer were listed on the wooden box as the code M46-07-539<\/strong>, where M46<\/strong> is the lot number of the cartridges, 07<\/strong> – year of production, i.e., 2007, and 539<\/strong> – a special \u00a0code of the producer, the Tula Arms Plant. As a result of this new requirement, the rifle designers came to the conclusion that the RG037 cartridge would be ineffective, so further work on the project was halted, and soon the sniper rifle was completely redesigned for 9\u00d739 mm cartridge (<strong>SP-5, SP-6 and PAB-9<\/strong>).<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\r\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">KGB and GRU units received this rifle in 1987. It is currently used in the special forces units of the Airborne Troops, the FSB, the GRU and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation. The rifle was previously used by Special Forces of the KGB of Belarus, but in the absence of local production of the SP-5 and SP-6 cartridges and no prospects for their supply, it was replaced with other types of firearms. <\/span><b>This rifle and ammunition for it has never been supplied to Ukraine.<\/b>\r\n<h2><strong>Episode I<\/strong><\/h2>\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">On May 16, 2015 in the area of the ATO near Shchastya, Russian soldiers of the 3rd separate brigade of the special purpose GRU, 21208 military base of Tolyatti, Sergeant A. Alexandrov and Captain E. Yerofeyev were captured. During this skirmish, one Ukrainian soldier was killed and three were wounded. One of the detainees was shot in the arm (Captain Yerofeyev), and one other (Sergeant Alexandrov) - in the leg. The detainees were transferred to Kiev, to the Main Clinical Hospital of Ministry of Defense. On May 29, they had surgeries. On May 19, Ukrainian investigators announced that the two detainees were suspected of committing crimes under article 258-3 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, in connection with their participation in terrorist activities for the LNR. On May 18, 2015 at a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=fijjjPkvoN8\">briefing<\/a> for the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, \u00a0a Vintorez rifle without its optical sight <strong>PSO-1-1<\/strong> and ammunition of 9x39 \u00a0mm caliber <strong>SP-5<\/strong>, seized from Captain Yerofeyev during his capture, was displayed.<\/span>\r\n\r\n<img class=\"alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/informnapalm.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/Selection_023.png\" width=\"856\" height=\"480\" \/>\r\n\r\n<img class=\"alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/informnapalm.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/Selection_022.png\" width=\"850\" height=\"477\" \/>\r\n<h2><strong>Episode II<\/strong><\/h2>\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><strong>Anatoliy Ageev<\/strong> is a militant of the terrorist organization LNR (<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.is\/JaTcx\">profile<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/archive.is\/wAzSA\">album<\/a>), date of birth 12\/14\/1991, hometown: Groznyi, education: Belgorod University of Cooperation, Economy and Law (alumnus of 2011), mob. phone: +79611730538, served for the military unit 3703 of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation in 2009-2010, contract service - in the Krasnodar Krai, town of Labinsk, military unit 3219, the 451th Regiment of operational use of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation since 2010. He uploaded his picture with three Vintorez rifles to his album on September 8, 2014. According to its geotag, this <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.is\/YXiaz\">picture<\/a> was taken in the village of Hryaschevka, Krasnodon Raion of Luhansk Oblast.<\/span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><img class=\"alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/informnapalm.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/Selection_018.png\" width=\"739\" height=\"626\" \/><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Since Ageev is a gunner (conclusions are based on analysis of the <a href=\"http:\/\/archive.is\/wAzSA\">album<\/a>), he was given a rifle to hold only during the photo shooting. Presumably, Russian military personnel, who are the owners of these rifles, are with him posing for the camera. Another Ageev\u2019s <a href=\"http:\/\/archive.is\/k0eSz\">photo <\/a>with the Vintorez:<\/span>\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\n<img class=\"alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/informnapalm.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/Selection_020.png\" width=\"649\" height=\"634\" \/>\r\n<h2><strong>Episode III<\/strong><\/h2>\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><strong>Eugene Rahmatullin<\/strong> lives in Krasnodon, Luhansk Oblast (<a href=\"http:\/\/archive.is\/b3uEj\">page<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/archive.is\/d8OFH\">album<\/a>), a militant of the terrorist organization LNR. He posted the <a href=\"http:\/\/archive.is\/8CMxS\">photo<\/a> with the Vintorez rifle to his album on September 2, 2014. Because Ageev is listed as Rahmatullin\u2019s <a href=\"http:\/\/archive.is\/5b4rr\">friend <\/a>and the photos were uploaded in the same period and had similar backgrounds, we can see they were made at the same place.<\/span>\r\n\r\n<img class=\"alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/informnapalm.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/Selection_021.png\" width=\"749\" height=\"636\" \/>\r\n<h2><strong>Episode IV. Ammunition<\/strong><\/h2>\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">In the summer of 2014, Russia supplied large amounts of weapons and ammunition to Donbas, including ammunition for the Vintorez rifle. In July, after the liberation of the city of Slovyansk by \u00a0the Ukrainian army, in a video by Channel 5 among the various ammunition seized from the \u2018Girkin\u2019s band\u2019 the capping of <strong>SP-6<\/strong> cartridges (sniper, enhanced penetration) <strong>9x39<\/strong> mm caliber \u00a0used for Val or Vintorez rifles, was displayed.<\/span>\r\n\r\n<img class=\"alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/informnapalm.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/2.png\" width=\"650\" height=\"413\" \/>\r\n\r\n<img class=\"alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/informnapalm.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/3.png\" width=\"572\" height=\"244\" \/>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Lot number, year and manufacturer were listed on the wooden box as the code <strong>M46-07-539<\/strong>, where <strong>M46<\/strong> is the lot number of the cartridges, <strong>07<\/strong> - year of production, i.e., 2007, and <strong>539<\/strong> - a special \u00a0code of the producer, the Tula Arms Plant.
