On July 8, 2016, social networks shared some information on a helicopter shot down near Syria’s \u00a0Palmyra. Arab media picked up this information specifying that the helicopter was Russian. In the evening of the same day, a representative of the Russian Defense Ministry at the Hmeymim airbase denied<\/a> the reports of the media: “All Russian combat helicopters in service in the Syrian Arab Republic safely returned to airfields after accomplishing their planned missions. There were no loss of Russian aircrafts<\/strong>“<\/em>.<\/p>\n

The next day, IS terrorist fighters posted a video<\/a> on YouTube showing a combat helicopter strikes\u00a0 its ground targets with unguided rocket projectiles. After the second barrage one can clearly see that the helicopter was hit in the tail rotor and began to fall while spinning.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Later that day a representative of the Russian Defense Ministry stated<\/a>: “On July 8, Russian military instructor pilots Ryafagat Khabibulin and Yevgeny Dolgin conducted a test flight of a Syrian Mi-25 helicopter<\/strong> (export version of Mi-24 helicopter) with ammunition on board in the province of Homs (Syria).\u00a0The crew<\/strong> received a request from the Syrian unit’s command to\u00a0strike the advancing fighters. <\/strong>The captain, Ryafagat Khabibulin, made a decision to\u00a0attack the terrorists. The skillful actions of\u00a0the Russian crew thwarted the terrorists’ advance. When the helicopter’s ammunition was spent and it changed its course to\u00a0the opposite\u00a0direction, it was shot down\u00a0by terrorists from\u00a0the ground and crashed in\u00a0an area controlled by\u00a0the Syrian government army. The helicopter’s crew was killed.”\u00a0<\/em>As we can see, the Russian propaganda denies that the downed helicopter belonged to the Russian Aerospace Forces.\u00a0 It replaces the concept of performing a mission of fire support from the air with the expression “test flight with ammunition on board”. \u00a0<\/em>Also, it denied any involvement of the Russian command in the planning and conducting of this operation, claiming that the crew “received a request from the Syrian unit’s command to strike the advancing fighters.” <\/em><\/p>\n

In other words, according to the Russian Defense Ministry, the crew was “testing” the Syrian Air Force helicopter in a combat zone. Having heard on the radio a call for help, the crew made an independent decision to open fire using accidentally available ammunition. This is another attempt by the Russian propaganda to portray a Russian helicopter as a Syrian one. However, in the shots of the falling helicopter one can see clearly the landing gear and short wings with two points of suspension arms, indicating a modern modification of the Mi-35M which is in service in the Russian Armed Forces only.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Let us remind you that in early 2016 Syrian media reported the arrival of Russian Mi-35M \u00a0helicopters with the registration numbers RF-13029<\/strong> and RF-13021 <\/strong>to the Hmeymim airbase (link 1<\/a>. link 2<\/a>). <\/strong>The killed pilots Ryafagat Khabibulin and Yevgeny Dolgin served in the 55th Separate Army Aviation Regiment (Korenovsk Air Base) which received new Mi-35M in 2012.<\/p>\n

Realizing the absurdity of the quickly cooked up lie about the downed helicopter, the Russian propaganda machine sent to Palmyra Marat Musin, the director of the so-called ANNA-NEWS agency (a Russian propaganda resource financed and supervised by the FSB). The result of Musin’s “work” is a video of the helicopter crash site titled “Palmyra. Report from the place of death of Colonel Khabibulin and Lieutenant Dolgin<\/a>,”\u00a0Based on the video analysis the exact place of the helicopter crash was determined,<\/a> as well as the landmarks – the granary and the single-story building.<\/p>\n

The video report shows a sudden explosion of the already burned up Mi-35M.
\nWhat does this blast mean? What for? There was no shelling to observe, the operator is calmly standing near the explosion site.\u00a0Thus, it is a deliberate blasting that was arranged by the military personnel which arrived at the site together with Musin.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

So, what was the purpose of the explosion?\u00a0 After a careful review, we can see that the glorious FSB propagandists changed the chronology of the captured materials during the editing. On the video, we see the explosion first, then – Musin holding a melted piece of metal in his hand.\u00a0However, the order of the events was just the opposite.\u00a0This fact gave us the opportunity to understand what happened. In the screenshot below, we see the unbroken<\/strong> tail boom of the helicopter (timing 2:09<\/strong>).<\/p>\n

Then look at this screenshot (timing 2:03<\/strong>) – tail boom is almost destroyed by the explosion.<\/p>\n

We can assume that the explosion was made to destroy the remaining labels and other identification markings that would make the identification of the specific aircraft possible. Another version is to hide what type of weapons and ammunition it was hit with. A Russian Defense Ministry official said that the helicopter was shot down by an American TOW-71 anti-tank missile, although the TOW-71 is wire controlled and it is useless against the target moving above 60 km\/h (the helicopter’s speed at the time of the strike was above 150 km\/h). So, why blast the tail boom if it could have been examined to determine the type of ammunition that destroyed the helicopter?<\/p>\n

Volunteers of the international community InformNapalm thank Mussin and ANNA-NEWS agency for another faux pas that has uncovered once again a fraud of the Russian propaganda machine and discredits its FSB curators. At 0:52 <\/strong>of the video we see the Mi-35M flying over the Tadmor airbase in Palmyra.<\/p>\n

However, in the shots of the falling helicopter one can see clearly the landing gear and short wings with two points of suspension arms, indicating a modern modification of the Mi-35M which is in service in the Russian Armed Forces only.\r\n\r\n<img class=\"alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/informnapalm.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/Selection_101.png\" width=\"633\" height=\"299\" \/>\r\n\r\nLet us remind you that in early 2016 Syrian media reported the arrival of Russian Mi-35M \u00a0helicopters with the registration numbers <strong>RF-13029<\/strong> and <strong>RF-13021 <\/strong>to the Hmeymim airbase (<a href=\"http:\/\/archive.is\/QQmLn\">link 1<\/a>. <a href=\"http:\/\/archive.is\/TYlNs\">link 2<\/a>)<strong>. <\/strong>The killed pilots Ryafagat Khabibulin and Yevgeny Dolgin served in the 55th Separate Army Aviation Regiment (Korenovsk Air Base) which received new Mi-35M in 2012.\r\n\r\nRealizing the absurdity of the quickly cooked up lie about the downed helicopter, the Russian propaganda machine sent to Palmyra Marat Musin, the director of the so-called ANNA-NEWS agency (a Russian propaganda resource financed and supervised by the FSB). The result of Musin's \"work\" is a video of the helicopter crash site titled \"<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=noOg12Mz564\">Palmyra. Report from the place of death of Colonel Khabibulin and Lieutenant Dolgin<\/a>,\"\u00a0Based on the video analysis <a href=\"http:\/\/wikimapia.org\/#lang=en&lat=34.602243&lon=38.418004&z=18&m=b\">the exact place of the helicopter crash was determined,<\/a> as well as the landmarks - the granary and the single-story building.\r\n\r\n<img class=\"alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/informnapalm.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/Selection_105.png\" width=\"1641\" height=\"854\" \/>\r\n\r\nThe video report shows a sudden explosion of the already burned up Mi-35M.\r\nWhat does this blast mean? What for? There was no shelling to observe, the operator is calmly standing near the explosion site.\u00a0Thus, it is a deliberate blasting that was arranged by the military personnel which arrived at the site together with Musin.\r\n\r\n<img class=\"alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/informnapalm.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/Selection_106.png\" width=\"854\" height=\"482\" \/>\r\n\r\nSo, what was the purpose of the explosion?\u00a0 After a careful review, we can see that the glorious FSB propagandists changed the chronology of the captured materials during the editing. On the video, we see the explosion first, then - Musin holding a melted piece of metal in his hand.\u00a0However, the order of the events was just the opposite.\u00a0This fact gave us the opportunity to understand what happened. In the screenshot below, we see <strong>the unbroken<\/strong> tail boom of the helicopter (timing <strong>2:09<\/strong>).\r\n\r\n<img class=\"alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/informnapalm.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/Selection_108.png\" width=\"854\" height=\"482\" \/>\r\n\r\nThen look at this screenshot (timing <strong>2:03<\/strong>) - tail boom is almost destroyed by the explosion.\r\n\r\n<img class=\"alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/informnapalm.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/Selection_107.png\" width=\"855\" height=\"480\" \/>\r\n\r\nWe can assume that the explosion was made to destroy the remaining labels and other identification markings that would make the identification of the specific aircraft possible. Another version is to hide what type of weapons and ammunition it was hit with. A Russian Defense Ministry official said that the helicopter was shot down by an American TOW-71 anti-tank missile, although the TOW-71 is wire controlled and it is useless against the target moving above 60 km\/h (the helicopter's speed at the time of the strike was above 150 km\/h). So, why blast the tail boom if it could have been examined to determine the type of ammunition that destroyed the helicopter?\r\n\r\nVolunteers of the international community InformNapalm thank Mussin and ANNA-NEWS agency for another faux pas that has uncovered once again a fraud of the Russian propaganda machine and discredits its FSB curators. At <strong>0:52 <\/strong>of the video we see the Mi-35M flying over the Tadmor airbase in Palmyra.\r\n\r\n<img class=\"alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/informnapalm.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/Selection_102-1.png\" width=\"853\" height=\"480\" \/>\r\n\r\nMusin made a similar mistake in September 2014. In his reportage for ANNA-NEWS he filmed a T-72BA tank of the Russian 21st Separate Motorized Rifle Brigade destroyed by Ukrainian army near Starobeshevo in Donetsk Oblast.
