Orcs of the Moscow State University

MSU, the most prominent Russian university, has a pack of pro-military activists – so-called Z-activists, or “orcs”. Their organization is called “Students patriotic union” (SPU) MSU (ru – СПО МГУ). The members of SPU collect donates and purchase equipment for soldiers and mercenaries taking part in the Russian invasion to Ukraine. They use a Telegram-channel to popularize their activities and publish reports. These guys have an interesting peculiarity – they carefully hide their faces, even from their university mates. Well, now it’s time to pull away their balaclavas.

Andrey Trutnev

The owner of the SPU Telegram-channel. Andrey Trutnev participates in purchasing of the military equipment and personally delivers it to the battle zone on the occupied Ukrainian territory.

Andrey Trutnev is a son of Yury Trutnev, a deputy Prime Minister of Russia and Presidential Envoy to the Far Eastern Federal District. In 2023 Andrey Trutnev started his Master education on the Faculty of Law of MSU. He has public profiles in various social networks, where he doesn’t expose his attitude towards the aggressive war.

Maria Trutneva

An administrator of the SPU MSU Telegram-channel. In 2023 finished the 1st year study in MSU. Maria Trutneva is responsible for fundraising. Her bank card number is specified in the payment details for donates.

Maria Trutneva is a daughter of Yury Trutnev. Hence, at least two kids of this high-ranked Russian official take part in supporting the Russian invasion to Ukraine.

Yury Trutnev himself actively supports the Russian war. He regularly undertakes propaganda tours to the occupied region of Donbass. In the Far Eastern Federal District of Russia he supervises governors in their responsibilities to provide mobilized reservists and military goods. In particular, Yury Trutnev personally inspected a military base in Uspenovka (Sakhalin) in December 2022. As a result, Trutnev-senior is already mentioned in sanction lists of 6 states.

Probably the main reason for his children, Andrey and Maria, to hide their faces is the desire to avoid getting into sanction lists.

Kantemir Balkizov

An administrator of the SPU MSU Telegram-channel. In 2023 he started his Master education on the Faculty of Law of MSU, a university mate of Andrey Trutnev. Balkizov came to Moscow from the city of Nartkala, Kabardino-Balkar Republic.

Apparently, Kantemir Balkizov is looking for a career in the law enforcement system of Russia. In 2023 he started a new position of a prosecutor’s public assistant. This does not prevent Balkizov from supplying goods to the occupational forces, hence violating a bunch of articles of the Criminal Code. This fact illustrates the nature of the Russian “law enforcement”.

Islam Osmanov

An administrator of the SPU MSU Telegram-channel. In 2023 he started his Master education on the Faculty of Law of MSU, a university mate of Andrey Trutnev. Islam Osmanov came to Moscow from the city of Derbent, Dagestan. Osmanov collects and delivers military equipment to the Russian occupational forces. He is also active in pro-Russian telegram channels, where he communicates with Russian occupants and their Ukrainian collaborates from the occupied territories.
