“The Chairman of the Supreme Council of the Donetsk People’s Republic” Boris Litvinov confessed that unneeded Hryvni from Crimea were delivered to the “DPR” – for the needs of the unrecognized economy.

“Russia funds a significant part of the needs of the militia. When Crimea switched to rubles a lot of UAH cash was left in Crimea. Crimea became Russian territory and the cash was in Russian banks”, he said to RBC.

According to him, Russia almost does not trade with Ukraine in UAH and that is why Hryvnia is not in demand.

“As a result, the Crimean reserve of Hryvnia was transferred here. For the initial period we have enough”, he said.
