    Anti-Terrorist Operation: Summary for July 6, 2014

    on 07/07/2014 | | Donbas | News | Summaries
    Information

Militants continue to consolidate in Donetsk. Terrorists are placed in dormitories of Donetsk State Medical University and Donetsk National University; checkpoints begin to appear next to those dormitories. Militants build new strongholds in the Slovyansk-Donetsk direction and a new base in the building of the military department of Donetsk National Technical University (48°0’47″N 37°48’1″E).

There are two main directions of the activities of terrorists in Donetsk:

    1. Creation of a powerful fortified area in the center of the city with a radius of about 2 km
    2. Creation of a network of outworks

Moreover, terrorists are trying to regroup secretly, at that some of their forces are moved out from cities and scatter. The calm in Kramatorsk becomes disturbing: a person who was close to the separatists is appointed as a chief of the police department. It seems as if the police in Kramatorsk is changing hats trying to mimick patriots true to Ukraine. Quoting famous “Wedding in Malinovka“, “I am not guilty, he came himself”.

How true they are, we will see tomorrow (July 7) in Kramatorsk at about 19:00. Dismantling of the monument to Lenin is scheduled for that time. “Tractors, sledgehammers and personnel for dismantle is welcome”, say local activists.

Local clashes continue in the area of Kransyi Lyman. It should be noted that a lot of attention is drawn to Slovyansk which was abandoned by terrorists and almost no attention is paid to Lysychansk where Mozgovoy’s armed band is acting. Consideration should be given to the forests in the area of those cities because so far no one has checked the forests thoroughly. Materials on presence of underground terrorist groups in other regions of Ukraine continue to emerge and particular attentions should be paid to Kharkiv.

Alternatively, withdrawal of terrorist forces from Slovyansk can be a distraction. It seems as if it was done with the aim to draw off the ATO forces to the south of the region. It is important to remember about the possibility of an attack from Lysychansk to the rear of the ATO forces.

In his last report Girkin claims that the representatives of DPR left Slovyansk and Kramatorsk allegedly to keep their forces. According to him it is more convenient to defend Donetsk and he was going to create a military council of warlords to adjust with “DPR defense issues”. At the same time Girkin said nothing about the losses that DPR members suffered during the “break-through” from Slovyansk. He merely states that they managed to keep “80 to 90% of personnel and 90% of weapons” during the retreat. Girkin also said that “military families and people sympathizing with militia” were “evacuated” along with the members of DPR.

Given that the column of terrorists quietly left Slovyansk and was not shot, this means that Girkin lost 10% of the personnel because they merely run away during the “break-through” to Donetsk.

Also there was informaton that only 2 (out of 8) subordinate commanders left with Girkin: “Motorolla” and “Krechet”. The others warlords faded during the reatreat. We do not count “Bes” and “Abwehr” because they position themselves as separate “feudal princes” in their DPR “princedoms”.

It is known that Girkin, Bes and Abwehr were in Horlivka. All three have fears for their lives and that they will be betrayed or discarded…
