Militants continue to seize military units. Today military unit #3037 of internal troops in Donetsk and military unit A1402 (Donetsk anti-aircraft missile regiment) have fallen. Ammunition in the depot of the internal troops’ military unit blows up because of blasts arranged by servicemen in advance. Antiaircraft defense reportedly lost 9K77 Buk missile systems. However, this information requires confirmation because other sources report that the military unit did not have those missile systems.
It is very painful and sad to see how people suffer from disorders committed by militants in Donetsk: it was reported that drugstores massively close down. And… yet another line has been crossed: there are reports that citizens of Donetsk – apparently captives, many of them were beaten – have to work on the checkpoints under the supervision of the militants.
Krasnodon becomes a hub for militant snipers. Earlier information about the party of sniper rifles brought into the city now organically links with the report about opening of a center for training snipers under strict guidance of instructors from Russia.
International Developments
The day was a little dry for international events. We think that the conference call between the presidents of Ukraine (Petr Poroshenko), France (Francois Hollande), Russia (Vladimir Putin) and German chancellor (Angela Merkel) was the biggest shock in the international arena. It is not the fact of the conversation itself but the announced positions became were shocking. This trio “asked” Poroshenko in unison to extend the “truce” in the east of our long-suffering Ukraine. It is very interesting when they had a chance to come to this agreement or maybe Europe goes from “support, compassion and willingness to help” right to hypocrisy?
Putin immediately took advantage of the situation and declared that Russia is still ready to provide “humanitarian aid” to the population of the southeast – which Ukraine had declined. Earlier the State Border Service of Ukraine stated that in the night of June 27 to 28 MLRS BM-21 Grad and long range surface-to-air missile systems (S-300 or similar) appeared at the Russian Armed Forces checkpoint near the gas distribution system in Strelkovoye (Genichesky district of Kherson region). Obviously this was done by Putin to sound more convincing when asking for the truce.
The EU stated that it “expects that all hostages held by illegal armed groups will be released” and the President is weighed upon by the people tired of mistakes and indecisive actions of the authorities.
