One of the partisan units which occasionally shares their information with InformNapalm, passed over to us some photographs of the new Russian compact rocket-propelled flame thrower they captured on Jan 15. They asked to keep the circumstances of capturing the flamethrower a secret in order not to disclose their location. However, some interesting conclusions can be drawn from the presented photos.
For reference:
The compact rocket-propelled flame thrower (МРО-А) was developed on the basis of the rocket-propelled assault grenade launcher (РШГ-2) and with the purpose of arming flame thrower units of chemical troops with less heavy but a more powerful alternative to the flame thrower РПО-А “Shmel” (bumblebee). The РШГ-2, according to the domestic classification represents a “grenade”, and is supplied to the regular RF infantry units. The basic external distinction of МРО-А from РШГ-2 is targeting devices. In case of РШГ-2 they are identical to the (РПГ-26) anti-tank grenade sight, while МРО-А targeting devices are identical to the rocket-propelled flame thrower РПО-А “Shmel” (bumblebee). Besides, the baseline (МРО-А) case with thermobaric warhead also manufactured and put into operational service alternatives of МРО-З with incendiary warhead and МРО-Д with smoke head for laying instant smoke screen. МРО-А has been used in the RF army arsenal since 2004.
This type of weapon has been adopted into the RF military service since 2004. Judging by the brand (mark), the same system sample has serial number 32 and was manufactured in 2008. For that reason, it could not be used in the Ukrainian Army service. Some difficulty with identification was caused by the wiped out brand under the device index. But just put yourself in place of those Russians trying to disguise the supplies of weapons into Ukraine ….
