    The advanced armored personnel carriers BTR82A of Russian army are redeployed in Sevastopol

    The arrival to Sevastopol of 54 units of the advanced armored personnel carriers BTR82A is recorded. This model was officially added to the Russian armory in February 2013. The vehicle presents remarkable upgrade of previously adopted BTR80A and surpasses its forerunner in almost all standards. The weight of the vehicle is 16 tonnes. BTR-82A – latest production version with improved armour, spall liners, more modern night vision device TKN-4GA-02, 30mm gun 2A72,  tank machine gun PKTM of 7,62 mm caliber, GLONASS navigation system and a more powerful engine of 300 hp. In autumn 2013 the Russian BTR 82А (as well as the Ukrainian BTR 4) hitted top 10 of the best armored personnel carriers of the world, according to their indices of protection of their fire power and mobility potential, according to the international magazine “Army Technology”.
