This timeline was prepared by the InformNapalm team and was based on the information from our insiders in the occupied territories, as well as the information from public sources.
Sector “C”
Donetsk
The morning began with loud shelling in different directions, the most active of those between 08:00 and 10:30 were:
08:00 Budyonovskyi District, area of the Koksokhim plant: howitzer shelling started from the territory of the plant.
07:59 and 08:03 Kirovskyi District, deafening outgoing fire.
08:28 South Bus Station in Petrivskyi District: ringing outgoing shots, echoed from all sides. Heavy guns and machine guns can be heard.
08:50 For almost an hour with some breaks there were explosions heard from the direction of the town of Krasnogorivka (incoming fire).
09:14 Large cloud of smoke is visible from the direction of the Spartak settlement, possibly in the Yakovlevka settlement.
09:30 Two tanks were firing at Ukrainian positions near Opytne.
Starting at 10:30, power outages were observed in several neighborhoods of the central part of Donetsk.
Starting at 11:15, residents note increasing activity of military weaponry in the city in several directions:
– 11:37 Motel, Kalininskyi District, military trucks with armed militants moved towards Makiivka (one KamAZ and two Urals with the interval of 2-4 minutes).
– 12:26 Osa SAM passed to Makiivka.
– From 13:00, movement of military vehicles to Shakhtarska Square, Kyivskyi District, where it was concentrated: three covered Grad MLRS, eight howitzers, several Ural trucks, other heavy weaponry, a large number of militants. Journalists interviewed the militants, who explained, ‘There will be a parade in Donetsk on May 9. Today we show the weaponry that will participate in it. Sixteen units will take part in the Donetsk parade. Participation of three Grad systems and eight howitzers is planned.’
– 14:25 Two camouflaged covered trucks, one with spot camouflage and similar to an electronic warfare station in appearance, and the other towing a small diesel generator (likely a command vehicle) drove south on Artema Street from Shakhtarska Square.
– 16:05 Six covered trucks, one T-12 Rapira, and four 122-mm D-30 howitzers went from Kyivskyi Avenue to Pavla Popovicha Street.
At 14:00 dense black smoke appeared from behind the spoil heap of Gorkogo coal mine (near stadium Shakhtar). At 15:53 residents also saw black smoke between Spartak and Donetsk Airport. Mortar explosions could be heard in the airport.
16:10 Tochmash, Kyivskyi District, outgoing artillery fire continues from the territory of the factory, tank fire can be heard in the area of Spartak.
16:58 One armored Ural truck, one BTR APC, two MTLB APCs, one covered Ural with soldiers (total count of personnel in all vehicles ca. 300 militants) arrived in the territory of Donetsk Polytechnic Institute.
From 17:23 to 18:58 movement was observed on Universytetska Street and Kyivskyi Avenue towards Donetsk Airport: two trucks and four BTRs with militants; six trucks (one covered, two command, three armored) with militants, a cargo van, and UAZ SUV with soldiers.
At 18:50 and 18:53 there was MLRS fire from the direction of Yasynuvata, with correspondingly 4 and 16 rounds, which landed in the area of Avdiivka.
19:00 Shelling intensified, the residents of the northern part of Kyivskyi District describe the fire as regular, mostly mortars or tanks, sometimes small arms.
Around heavy artillery fire towards Pisky can be heard 19:35 from the territory of the Oktybrskyi Rudnik coal mine administration facility.
19:50 Flames and smoke in the area of Stroibat on Kuybyshev Street; fire is visible.
22:10 Heavy tanks are coming to the railway station, going towards Pisky.
Representatives of ‘DNR authorities’ state they will freeze operations at 20 coal mines in the territory under their control.
A mine collapse at the Ilovayska coal mine of the Shakhtarskantratsyt enterprise resulted in one miner being blocked by debris. At 06:40 he was recovered.
Motel between Donetsk and Makiivka: additional patrols appeared, with a remarkable detail: they wear white helmets with a red stripe and a large red star.
Today the Nikitin family (former owner of Mayak shopping center in Donetsk) learned that DNR kidnapped their son. The ransom was set at three million dollars.
Shakhtarsk:
Movement of heavy weaponry and AA systems of militants during daytime is now minimal, it now mostly happens at night. This morning fresh tracks left by heavy tracked vehicles were visible on the roads in Shakhtarsk towards Yenakiieve.
From 11:00 to 12:00, MLRS fire could be heard, often salvos of half a set at once – the drills of militants on the fire range near the village of Ternove, Donetsk Oblast. From 16:00, single rounds of heavy long-range artillery were also heard.
Also the residents admit considerable increase in railway traffic in various directions. The intensity of the railway use for freight has increased several times over.
19:50 Eight trucks passed from Donetsk towards the east.
21:10 Nine Russian Army Ural trucks also passed from Donetsk towards the east.
21:53 Another 19 Russian Army Ural trucks passed from Donetsk towards the east.
22:53 Up to 20 KamAZ and Ural trucks and five military fuel trucks passed to Torez.
Horlivka:
10:47 A convoy is assembled in the area of the organized crime police office. Many Ural trucks with Russian flags are parked near the office.
16:36 A convoy of two BTRs and 20 covered tractor trailers drove on Lenin Avenue towards ‘Kochegarka’.
For two days the city has been relatively calm after the fights on Saturday. Weaponry is transported between Rumiantseva Highway and Golmivskyi settlement using the truck road; it is also aggregated in the area of the Rtutnye quarries and plant.
20-55 Artillery and small arms fire are heard from the direction of Mayorsk – Zaytseve.
21-41 Small gun fire resumed in the center. Possibly the militants were trying to shoot down a UAV.
Novogrygorivka:
Novogrygorivka, Donetsk Oblast, newly arrived militants from Sankt-Petersburg occupied the houses of local residents, forcibly evicting them. They explained that these houses would be converted to military facilities and barracks, and did not even allow the residents to remove their belongings.
Sector A
Mobile communication is unstable in Starobilsk, Siverskodonetsk, Lysychansk and other cities of Luhansk Oblast starting at 18:00.
Lutugine: at 09:00 a road accident occurred near the children’s clinic: Ural truck ran over two passenger cars of the residents – 2.5 years old child transported to intensive care.
Stakhanov: in the town the militants repainted the monument on Voiniv Internatsionalistiv Square in the colors of the Russian flag.
Antratsyt: tomorrow civil defense will conduct exercises.
Alchevsk: there are no militant checkpoints left on the road from Alchevsk to Luhansk.
Luhansk: Military equipment passed in the direction of Hayovogo block, more than 15 BTRs. Teachers of Luhansk today collected the signatures under the petition to cover their arrears in pay. Also the residents admit, that the trains of ammunition and military equipment (including spare parts for helicopters) continue to arrive to Luhansk from RF.
Krymske: Starting the previous night, skirmishes between militants and Ukrainian soldiers occurred in the outskirts of Krymske, with the most active one near the TB clinic. After 11:00 the echo of explosions could be heard in the village, coming from the direction of Bakhmutka near the village of Zholobok and the 29th checkpoint.
Troitske: The village was fired at by mortars and small arms during the night. One of the militants’ mortar shells landed in a farmyard and caused considerable losses to the farmer. At 11:30 the militants demonstratively arrayed a tank platoon in the battle formation from the side of occupied Kalynove in front of Ukrainian fortified posts. Ukrainian army did not react to this provocation.
Krasnyi Luch: In the warehouses near the railway militants collect and store ammunition. Heavy weaponry is also located there, including MRLS and its ammunition.
Sectors B and M
Dokuchaivsk: 12:10 Active movement of loaded Ural trucks in the town, mostly transporting ammunition, they are filled with boxes to the top.
Amvrosiivka: According to the residents, militants calling themselves ‘Cossacks of Great Don Army’ recently arrived in the town. The cossack union is called ‘Two squads’. Also, someone saw an SUV with the plates ‘Somali’ in the town. The militants have occupied the district administration building and the technical college dormitory, set up guards and a checkpoint.
Around 13:00 near Novoazovsk people saw four outgoing MLRS rounds. There was fire and smoke. The fifth missile was launched from Novoazovsk towards Mariupol.
Chermalyk: 14:00 Militants fired heavy artillery on the village of Chermalyk, Telmanovskyi District. In the afternoon the residents saw a packed bus with evacuees from Chermalyk. People were hastily forced to leave their houses.
Republic of Crimea (occupied by the Russian Army)
In the night of April 25 – 26 unknown persons tried to set on fire a mosque in the village of Skalyste in Bakhchysarai District. At 04:00 several glass bottles with flammable liquid were thrown into the building. Fortunately, the house of worship was not damaged.
The Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation summoned three more Mejlis members for questioning in the case of the protests near Crimean Verkhovna Rada on February 26, 2014. According to E. Belikova, the Senior Aide of the Head of Main Investigatory Directorate of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for Crimea, a 24 year old individual of Krasnogvardiyskyi District of Crimea will come up for trial on the charge of assaulting a policeman of the Interior Ministry’s Berkut special unit near the Armyansk border crossing point on May 3, 2014. The young man was trying to break through illegal barriers set up by the occupants near the crossing point, when Mustafa Dzhemilev was denied entry to Crimea through the occupants’ checkpoint on May 3.
Conclusion: In the ATO zone the militants, along with Russian servicemen, continue provocative shelling of the positions of the Ukrainian army, accumulate ammunition and weaponry, and also terrorize the residents of the occupied territories. In Crimea the repression of people who disagree with the occupation continues.
