The Security Service of Ukraine Detained the Leader of the “DPR Internal Affairs” Battalion in Volnovakha

on 10/05/2014 | | Main News | News Print This Post Print This Post

As a result of operations by the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), the deputy commander of the “DPR Internal Affairs” Special Forces, “G” (1970 YOB; call sign “Alf”), was detained on October 1. The DPR Special Forces Battalion “Berkut” (“Golden Eagle”) is headed by the officer of the Russian special services with the call sign “Kholod” (“Cold”).

“G” is known for his criminal past: he was previously brought to criminal liability for the crime of rape of a minor girl.

It was established that the detainee headed an illegal paramilitary formation in May 2014, for which he personally recruited fighters from the local criminals and former employees of the Police Special Forces.

The militants performed special missions related to the detection of the ATO Special Forces, gathered intelligence information in the area of the Donetsk airport and passed exact coordinates of Ukrainian military to terrorists for subsequent artillery strikes.

His group in Donetsk also acted as a “fiscal authority”: they collected “taxes” from local business people. The criminals seized business people for allegedly “anti-Novorossia” propaganda and passed them to the so-called “Military Procuracy (administrator) of the Donetsk People’s Republic” and shared their property among themselves.

SBU officers seized two certificates of the “deputy commander of the “Berkut” Battalion of the DPR” and a pass that allowed the criminal to cross all terrorist checkpoints freely.
