The Security Service of Ukraine Detained an Organizer of Anti-Ukrainian Actions in Severodonetsk

on 09/22/2014 | | Main News | News Print This Post Print This Post

The Security Service of Ukraine Counterintelligence detained a citizen of Ukraine, “K” (1996 YOB), in Severodonetsk (Luhansk region). The detainee disseminated calls over the Internet to commit acts of terrorism against the Government of Ukraine, servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and law enforcement officers.

It was established that since April 2014, the criminal, following the orders of the leaders of the LPR terrorist organization, spread calls in social networks to overthrow the constitutional order, and conduct anti-Ukrainian actions. Later on, disseminating distorted information on the anti-terrorist operation, he began to incite Internet users to covertly gather information about personnel, armaments, and disposition of the ATO forces in order to pass this data to the LRP terrorists.

According to the available data, “K” intended to organize an armed attack on the staff of the local police department with the aim to acquire firearms for his terrorist activities.

The Security Service of Ukraine registered a criminal proceeding against the detainee in terms of the Article 258-3, Paragraph 1 (Creation of a terrorist group or terrorist organization) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

    Investigatory actions are in progress.
