On February 14, at 7:33 am, the village of Novoluhanske in Bakhmut Raion of Donetsk Oblast, which is under control of the Ukrainian government, was shelled with 152-mm precision-guided munitions shot by artillery systems prohibited by the Minsk agreements. The shelling was conducted from the direction of the town of Vuhlehirsk which has been under control of the Russian terrorist forces since January 31, 2015. As a result of the shelling, the house of a civilian, 70-year-old retiree Viktor Frolov, was completely destroyed.

Photos of the pensioner, who miraculously survived, were published on the official Joint Forces Operation (JFO) page on Facebook. Also, photos of the destroyed house, as well as fragments of a 152-mm guided projectile of the Krasnopol type, were posted.

Using the photos posted on the JFO page, InformNapalm volunteers conducted their own analysis and have confirmed that the fragments are those of a Russian Krasnopol guided projectile.

Shells of this type have been used in the Donbas before.  On June 23, 2018, Russian occupying forces also used Krasnopol guided artillery shells against positions of Ukrainian forces.

The Russian guided artillery weapon system (GRAU 2K25 index) includes an adjustment of the high-explosive 3OF39 Krasnopol fragmentation projectile with a semi-active laser homing head 9E421, which receives a reflected signal from targets that are illuminated by a 1D15 (1D20, 1D22) laser. Krasnopol projectiles are fired from 152-mm artillery systems, such as D20, 2S3M Akatsiya, 2S19 Msta-S, and 2A65 Msta-B. The maximum declared distance is 25 km, and the accuracy is 95%. Given these indicators, it can be concluded that the shelling of a civilian’s house was not accidental.

InformNapalm volunteers also found a demonstration video of Krasnopol guided missiles. This video was presented to the media by the Russian Ministry of Defense almost a year ago, in March 2018.

The use of modern Russian 152-mm Krasnopol guided missiles in the Donbas is just another piece of evidence of the armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine.
