    While Georgian politicians and non-governmental organizations are arguing and cannot decide on Tatunashvili-Otkhozoria List, on the eve of the tenth anniversary of the Russian invasion of Georgia, the Georgian initiative group Rusets Ra?! provided InformNapalm international community with the data collected by the group. The data consists of personal information and photographs of more than 500 Russian military personnel and civilians who participated or were directly involved in the planning and implementation of Russian aggression against Georgia in August 2008.

    The data presented below is a result of several months of hard work by Georgian volunteers, who using OSINT (open source intelligence), have collected, studied and processed dozens of publications and videos including decrees for awards, articles and TV programs about the Heroes of our time and other types of information. In addition to the data obtained by traditional open sources, a large part of identified veterans of the Russian intervention into Georgia in 2008 was found in the so called free search, and in particular, various thematic groups on forums and social networks followed by analysis of profile data and contacts of the persons involved.

    The presented information has been classified according to different thematic blocks (lists); most of the identified aggressors are officers and contract-based soldiers from military units and formations of the North Caucasus Military District, Black Sea Fleet, Air Force, Special Operations Forces and Airborne Forces. The list also includes political elite of the Russian Federation (as of August, 2008), the leadership of the Ministry of Defense and the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces, etc.:

    • List №1 – based on the publication Please Recover Soon (Выздоравливайте, родные), (a list of wounded Russian soldiers). Totally 280 soldiers have been named – 196 servicemen have been identified through open sources and social networks and 84 soldiers were not identified;
    • List №2 – based on a number of earlier publications by InformNapalm, collected data of 50 military personnel and veterans of intervention from North Caucasus Military District and Airborne Forces;
    • List №3 – political elite of the Russian Federation as of August 2008: government, presidential administration, heads of law enforcement agencies, federal assembly – 37 high ranking officials;
    • List №4 – leadership of the Ministry of Defense, General Staff, Commanders of branches and services of the troops, heads of military services – 54 officials;
    • List №5 – Black Sea Fleet (command and control, commanders of ships, senior officers) – 16 are identified, 12 are unknown;
    • List №6 – Air Defense Forces (command and control, aircrew, personnel) – 14 identified;
    • List №7 – Airborne Forces (commanders of formations & units plus individual servicemen) – 18 have been identified;
    • List №8 – The North Caucasian Military District (the district command, the command of divisions, regiments, battalions / and other military units, individual servicemen and civilians supporting invasion force operations) – 115 identified, 76 are unknown;

    There are totally 672 names in the list, 500 of them gave been identified and 172 have been partially identified.

    For more clarity, all collected data about veterans of invasion have been put into several thematic information graphics that have been visualized by Alex Aleksidze, a Georgian InformNapalm volunteer.

    Georgian activists note that the presented here List of 672 is only the first swallow that does not make the summer, since, of course, they could not cover all military personnel involved in Russian aggression against Georgia. No such studies have been conducted before. Information on all identified individuals is supported by appropriate links and archives enabling a reader to get information about their involvement in August 2008 invasion. The presented data can be freely used for forming a full-fledged Tatunashvili-Otkhozoria List if there is a political will of the state and more serious approach to the occupation issue.

    We remind you that, in the beginning of March 2018, Georgian initiative group Rusets Ra?! in response to kidnapping and murder of Georgian citizen Archil Tatunashvili disclosed personal information of 140 officers and sergeants of the 4th Russian occupation base, stationed in occupied Tskhinvali region. https://informnapalm.org/42729-raskryty-140-ofitserov-i-serzhantov-4-j-okkupatsionnoj-bazy-rf-v-gruzii/

    As the Georgian activists claim, they have data about hundreds of military personnel of the 4th and the 7th occupied military bases stationed in Tskhinvali region and Abkhazia plus information on the border guards of the FSB of the Russian Federation and representatives of other law enforcement and government agencies of Russia, as well as data about representatives of the de facto governments in the occupied territories of Georgia. InformNapalm will be provided with such kind of information time to time as a kind of response to military crimes by Russian occupiers and their accomplices in Georgia.
