Volunteers of the InformNapalm international community continue to register facts of the Russian servicemen’s concealed participation in the war conflicts in Ukraine and Syria. The current investigation discloses presence of the ‘war Buryats’ in Donbas. In particular, our volunteers have tracked the ‘tour of duty’ of Bair Guroev, a serviceman from the 5th separate tank brigade of the Russian Federation’s armed forces.
Definitely, many of you can recall high-profile story of the burnt Buryat Dorzhy Batomunkuev from the ‘famous’ 5th tank brigade (military unit No. 46108, Central Military District, Ulan-Ude, Republic of Buryatia, Russia). Here is an archive of Batomunkuev’s interview to the Russian media ‘Novaya Gazeta’.
Carrying out another open source data investigation, the InformNapalm’s volunteers found one more fact of ‘hybrid’ Buryat tank crewmen’s participation in the war of the Kremlin against Ukraine.
The ‘hero’ of our story is Bair Guroev (archive) from a small village of Ust-Obor (Petrovsk-Zabaykalsk raion, Zabaykalsky Krai, Russia). This village is dominated by the Buryat community.
Archives of profile, album, contacts, and the license plate No. (х581хx[75]).Bair Guroev casted a lot with Ulan-Ude and service in the Russian army. Taking into account the chronology of the photos, Guroev was enrolled in 2012 (archive 1 and 2).
Specific badges, equipment and ethnic composition, ‘Ulan-Ude’ inscription and other points during his service in 2013 point at the 5th ‘Tatsinskaya’ separate tank brigade (military unit No. 46108)

Moreover, a lot of Guroev’s contacts also come from military unit No. 46108 – please refer to the ‘coworkers‘ album.
Next, Guroev had a little ‘civil’ period, a kind of vacation, but starting from the second half of 2014 new pictures started to appear showing his contract service life in the same unit. (archive 1 and 2).
Period between December of 2014 and February of 2015 was the most intense. Those days the servicemen were transferred ‘on training’. And here comes the most important moment – Guroev uploaded a picture of movement of a equipment convoy with well-known flag of the so-called ‘DPR’ (archive).
The photo was taken by Guroev from his own tank on February 25, 2015. We were able to identify the location where it happened – this is ‘Shyrokyi’ district of the Ukrainian Donetsk, in front of ‘Epitsentr’ shopping mall on Lenin avenue. The exact place was found with the help of Google Street View.
The pictures also show the tactical sign on a vehicle of the pseudo-militants – a ‘white square’. Equipment with such sign have been numerously registered in the combat action areas in Ukraine.
Additional facts
After the ‘training’ finished in Donbas, the war criminal Bair Guroev continued his service in his native 5th tank brigade at least till the end of summer 2015 (archive 1 and 2). You can see the badge of the military unit No. 46108 on Bair’s sleeve in the picture taken on August 30, 2015 (archive) – this confirms the supposition that he was continually serving as a contract soldier in this unit, throughout the entire trip to Donbas.
